Inside The Illinois Rankings: 2021 Newcomers

Last week we released the updated and expanded Illinois 2021 rankings and broke down the Top-10 prospects. Following the release, we took an in-depth look at some of the biggest risers in the class. Today we conclude our coverage of the Illinois 2021s by looking at some of the top players who are making their first appearance in the rankings. 

Of all the newcomers in the updated list it was OF/SS Holt Geltmaker (Illinois Valley Central) who made the biggest impression. 6-foot-2, 175-pound, Geltmaker, made his first PBR appearance this summer at the Underclass Trials and came away as one of the top prospects. At the event Geltmaker ran a 6.63 laser-timed 60 and showed a high-upside right-handed swing with quick-twitch and bat speed. Geltmaker followed that up with a strong showing at the PBR Illinois Limites Series held at Illinois State. Geltmaker, who has since committed to Illinois, makes his initial showing in the 2021 rankings at No. 26.
