Lockport Preseason I.D.: Catcher Analysis
March 9, 2021
On Feb. 15, the PBR Illinois staff hosted the Lockport Preseason I.D. at the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Dome in Lockport, Ill. The event hosted over 150 prospects from around the state to showcase their skillset in front of our scouting staff, and with a roster that size, there was no that doubt we’d be uncovering some new names, as well as tracking the progress of prospects already on our follow lists.
If you’ve missed some of our instant analysis in the week following the event check out some of the links below.
We began to roll out our position-by-position analysis on Monday, starting with the day’s outfielders. Today, we’re publishing the scouting reports on the day’s catchers, led by one of the top uncommitted sophomores in the state: Colin Barczi (Naperville Central). Barczi really came on in the fall, both in live game action and at an October showcase. On both occasions, he recorded highly impressive statistical measurements – and he managed to improve on them in Lockport.
Colin Barczi (2/15/21)
Another sophomore backstop, Kaleb Wilkey (Lincoln-Way West), earned follow status after showing well here. His athleticism behind the plate helped him average the lowest pop time of the event, just narrowly ahead of the aforementioned Barczi.
Continue on below for complete reports on these two, as well as the rest of the catchers in attendance.
