Neuqua Valley Extends Winning Streak To 7

SOUTH ELGIN, IL- Behind the pitching of Will Drake and a 12-hit attack, Neuqua Valley extended its winning streak to 7 games Tuesday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over South Elgin.

The Widlcats got things started in the top of the first as Zach Herdman walked to lead off the game and came around to score on a single by Kevin Ringlein and a misplay by the righfielder. South Elgin tied the game in the bottom of the 2^ndwhen Mitch Butvilas came around to score on an error after doubling with two outs. Neuqua added single runs in the 4^th and 5^th innings to take a 3-1 lead. South Elgin cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the 5^th thanks to a sacfly from Kevin Barry.

Clinging to a on run lead Neuqua sent 10 men to the plate in the 6^th inning scoring four times to push their lead to 7-2 en route to the victory. Wildcat starter Will Drake relatively cruised through the game working 7 innings allowing just 4 hits and an earned run.

Neuqua Valley improves to 14-4 and extends its winning streak to 7 games. South Elgin drops to 11-3 on the season. Both teams return to action tomorrow in game 2 of the 3 game series in Naperville.
