No. 9 Batavia takes care of Bartlett in six

BARTLETT, IL -  As the home team in the visitors park,  No. 9 Batavia  put it on Bartlett by  a final of 10-0 in six innings. Bulldog starting pitcher LHP Evan Acosta was sharp in the win scattering just two hits and striking out three.

Batavia got going early with a run in each of the first two frames. Senior Jacob Piechota started the scoring with an RBI single in the first. Then in the second Indiana commit Laren Eustace hit a line shot single up the middle to score the second Bulldog run of the game.

The flood gates open in the fourth for Batavia, as the skies opened and the rain fell the Bulldogs  sent 12 men to the plate scoring six runs  thanks in large part to six walks in the inning. Minnesota commit Micah Coffey and catcher Dino Simoncelli delivered the only RBIs of the inning, both coming on singles.

In the sixth Steven Busby put the game away with a clean line drive single to right scoring the 10th and final run of the game.

Statistical Highlights

+ Evan Acosta (Batavia, 2015) collected the win going 5.2 innings pitched. He struck out three scattering two hits without allowing a run. Acosta walked two.

+ Laren Eustace (Batavia, 2014) and Dino Simoncelli (Batavia, 2014) both went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. Eustace also had a stolen base.

+ Micah Coffey collected two RBI going 1-for-3 on the day.
