Oak Park-River Forest Cruises Past Whitney Young, Advance To 4A Regional Finals
May 22, 2019
DES PLAINES, IL - On a sunny, wind-gusted afternoon, the top seed in the Wilmette Sectional, Oak Park-River Forest ousted the Whitney Young Dolphins Wednesday afternoon 15-0 in the Regional Semifinals. The Huskies put up three runs in the first and twelve in the fourth to run-rule Whitney Young in four innings and move one step further in the IHSA state playoffs.
OPRF starter LHP Nate Diamond (Pepperdine commit) limited the Dolphins to two singles, while not allowing a single runner to reach second base. Facing the minimum in four innings, Diamond finished with eight punch outs on 57 total pitches, 40 of which were strikes.
Huskies SS and leadoff man Dylan Whitney wasted little time kick-starting the offense sending a triple to left in the bottom half of the first (below). Two-hole hitter Alan Brown drove him in delivering a sacrifice fly deep to centerfield. Jose Maldonado and Adam Landsman scored the other two runs in the frame.
