Porsche Exchange Player of the Week: Champaign Central's Alec Barger

Champaign Central senior outfielder and right-handed pitcher Alec Barger has been named this week’s Porsche Exchange Player of the Week thanks to his outstanding performances on the mound and at the plate last week for the Maroons.

On Tuesday afternoon against conference foe Danville, the Northern Illinois recruit, had a single, a home-run and 2 RBI at the plate while also pitching 2.2 innings of scoreless relief to record a Save in the 4-1 Maroon victory.

On Friday the Maroons traveled to Louisville, KY to participate in the PBR Super Prep Series.  Facing Zionsville (IN), Alec hit a game tying two-run home run off Dayton recruit RJ Wagner in the 6th inning.   

Saturday morning, Barger picked up his second save of the week as the Maroons defeated Memorial (NJ) 2-1.  Barger tossed a scoreless seventh inning.

Saturday afternoon Central defeated Columbus North (IN) 7-3. Barger singled twice, stole two bases, scored a run, knocked in a run, and recorded the final 2 outs for his third save of the week.

For the week, he hit two home-runs, collected five RBI, scored three runs and racked up three saves on the mound.

For his efforts, Barger has been named the Porsche Exchange Player of the Week for the week of April 3 – April 9.
