Jack Czeszewski, OF/LHP, Elk Grove HS, Class of 2012
It hasn’t taken Jack Czeszewski long to make an impact for his new team.  The 5-foot-10, 165-pound left-handed hitting outfielder, who transferred from St. Viator HS, is off to a torrid start for Elk Grove.

The Illinois State recruit earned Porsche Exchange Player of the Week honors after helping the Grenadiers (9-3) to a 4-1 week thanks to his all-around play. For the week, the speedy leadoff hitter went 13-for-19 with nine runs scored, eight RBI, three doubles, two stolen bases and pitched two scoreless innings with five strikeouts. He also gunned down three runners from centerfield.

“He gives us quality at-bats consistently,” said Elk Grove Terry Beyna. “He’s extremely tough with two strikes and handles the bat very well. … Once he gets on base, he’s a threat to steal second and third.”

Against West Chicago on Saturday, Czeszewski went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and drove in a run. He also tallied three hits and two stolen bases against Maine West, and two hits and three RBI against Wheaton North.

For the season, he’s hitting .553 (21-for-38) with a .638 on-base percentage and a 1.428 OPS. He’s scored 16 runs with seven doubles, one triple, 11 RBI and six stolen bases. On the mound, the left-hander is 1-0 with one save. In 19 innings, he has a 1.47 ERA and 21 strikeouts. In the outfield, he has five assists and 20 put-outs without committing an error.
