Lemont senior RHP/1B Garrett Acton has been named this week’s Porsche Exchange Player of the Week thanks to his outstanding performance at the plate and on the mound last week for the Indians.

Over a three and a half games last week, Acton, ranked No. 17 in Illinois and a St. Louis commit, went 11-for-12 at the plate and threw three innings on the mound.

Acton got his week going on Monday, a game against Bremen delayed due to rain, going 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and a walk at the plate. He also started on the mound and went three innings, gave up one hit, no runs, struck out six and walked two.

In a victory over Evergreen Park on Wednesday, Acton had his biggest day of the week at the plate. He went 4-for-4, with a home run, two doubles, five RBI and three runs scored.

Thursday, the Indians defeated Shepard 10-0. Acton went 2-for-2, with two more doubles and RBI and two runs scored.

Acton capped off his week on Saturday against Lincoln-Way Central. He went 3-for-4 with two RBI in a 5-4 loss.

For the week, Acton went 11-for-12 (.917), with a home run, five doubles, nine runs batted in, five runs scored and two walks. On the mound he went three innings, gave up one hit, no runs, struck out six and walked two.

“Garrett has been our top hitter so far this season,” said Lemont coach Brian Storako. “He has worked hard in the cage and during BP to help our team offensively.  With that being said, he continues to pitch well when he gets the ball.”

For his efforts, Acton has been named the Porsche Exchange Player of the Week for the week of May 8 – May 14.

The Porsche Exchange salutes Acton’s hard work and success.
