On Monday, February 15, Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the Preseason All-State East Showcase at All-Star Performance in St. Louis, Mo. 

Nearly 60 players from 2017 class participated with another 10-plus from the 2018 and 2019 class.  Profiles have been updated with profile picture, stats and video.  Today we will break down the pitcher's performances.  The pitchers are listed in alphabetical order.

Hunter Becker, RHP, Chaminade, 2017
Becker is a 6-foot- 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, has command of three pitches and a repeatable delivery.  He topped at 85 mph with is fastball, one of top RHP velos for the event, sitting 82-84 mph, fastball works the bottom of zone with slight run, breaking ball is a tight 11-to-5 curveball with late action, 69-70 mph, showed a slider at 78 mph, change up at 78-80 mph, throws for a strike, arm side release, hands raise with knee in delivery, in-line stride, high three quarters release.

Alec Byous, RHP, Lafayette, 2018
Byous is a 6-foot-1 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. On the mound, Byous was 80-85 mph with his fastball, one of top RHP velos for the event, high three quarters release, hands stay high during delivery, level shoulders, inline stride, 12-to-6 curveball 73-75 mph, late action, throws for a strike, controllable changeup, 75-78 mph, slight sink, fastball arm speed, clean arm action, projectable frame.

Nicholas Cass, RHP, Francis Howell Central, 2018
Cass is a 5-foot-10 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. On the mound, fastball at 75-78 mph, sharp curveball with 11-to-5 action, 66-69 mph, change up at 71-72 mph, high three quarters release, loose arm action, conventional delivery, shows ability to repeat release point.

Brenden Cooper, LHP, Francis Howell Central, 2019
Cooper is a 6-foot-3 165-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. On the mound, high three quarters release, long arm circle, tuck at balance point, controlled delivery, throws with regular effort, slight run to fastball 68-71 mph, curveball at 54-58 mph,12-to-6 action,  change up at 61-63 mph, arm side release,

Jake Currier, RHP, Francis Howell Central, 2018
Currier is a 5-foot-9 125-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. On the mound, Currier worked his fastball at 70-75 mph, with late run, curveball at 59-60 mph, down in zone, 12-to-6 action, change up at 61-68 mph, works at knee level, near fastball arm speed.  Currier comes from a high three quarters delivery, throws with regular effort, and looks to be a crafty pitcher, working corners and changing speed with three pitches. 

Gregory Daniel, RHP, Webster Groves, 2017
Daniel is a 5-foot-10 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, over the top release, quick arm speed, arm works, controlled tempo, in line stride,  throws with regular effort, fastball at 78-80 mph, curveball at 64-66 mph, 11-to-5 action, change up at 73-75 mph.

Andrew Douglas, RHP, Festus, 2017
Douglas is a 6-foot 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, has a high three quarters release, repeatable delivery, rock step in wind up, in-line stride, throws with regular effort, body stays under control, smooth rhythm.  Fastball was 78-80 mph, slight run, curveball has 12-to-5 shape, change up at 71-75 mph, fastball arm speed, arm side release.

Ryan Gaines, RHP, Kirkwood, 2017
Gaines is a 6-foot-1 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Gaines has a tall and lean frame, capable of adding strength, fastball was 74-77 mph, some showing late run, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, tight spin with late break, throws for strike, good pitch, change up is 66-69 mph, arm side sink.  Gains throws with regular effort, over the top release point, level shoulders and a controlled body during delivery.

Zach Gibbs, RHP, Holt, 2017
Gibbs is a 6-foot-1 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, Gibbs has an over the top arm slot, loose and quick arm action, aggressive down the mound, throws with regular effort.  Fastball was 83-87 mph, one of top RHP velos for the event, works the bottom of the zone, downhill tilt, curveball at 73-77 mph, tight/late breaking 11-to-5 action, throws on same plane as fastball, change up at 77-80, fastball arm speed, arm side sink. 

Connor Giles, RHP, Rockwood Summit, 2017
Giles is a 6-foot 195-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, one of top RHP velos for the event, touching 84 mph, at 80-82 mph, high three quarters release, tuck at balance point, aggressive down mound, hides ball well, throws with some effort, curveball at 64-69 mph, 12-to-6 action, sharp break, change up at 70-72 mph, fastball speed, high percentage of strikes.

Da’Len Harrell, RHP, McCluer, 2017
Harrell is a 5-foot-10 192-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, Harrell worked his fastball at 68-74 mph, high three quarters release, works both sides of the plate, controlled tempo, in-line stride, balanced finish, breaking ball 58-59 mph, gradual 11-to-5 break, change up at 67-69 mph.   

Zack Hunsicker, RHP, Francis Howell, 2018
Hunsicker is a strong 6-foot-5 225-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, quick tempo in delivery, repeats will, throws strikes with three pitches, over the top release, quick arm speed, 84-86 mph fastball, works both sides of plate, 12-to-6 shaped breaking ball, late break, down in zone, comes out of hand on fastball plane, change up, at 79-82 mph, bottom of zone, fastball arm speed.  Hunsicker is a player to follow in the 2018 class with size and quick arm speed.

Chandler Jones, LHP, Kickapoo, 2017
Jones is a 6-foot-1 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, fastball at 75-77 mph, three quarters arm slot, throws with regular effort slightly across body, smooth tempo, athletic finish, curveball has 1-to-7 shape, late action, 71-72 mph, one of top LHP velos for the event, change up at 69-70 mph, arm side release, fastball arm speed.

Brian Kindt, RHP, Marquette, 2017
Kindt is a 6-foot-3 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class.  On the mound, over the top release, hands raise with leg lift, throws with some effort, slightly across body, fastball at 77-79 mph, curveball at 61-65 mph, gradual 11-to-5 action, throws for a strike, controllable change up at 69-70 mph, fastball arm speed.

Tommy Kraus, LHP, Vianney, 2017
Kraus is a 5-foot-9 160-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, over the top release, loose arm action, controlled delivery, level shoulders, inline stride, athletic finish.  Fastball at 77-78 mph, one of top LHP velos for the event, some with run, 2-to-8 breaking ball, late break, change up 69-72 mph, slight sink, showed feel for three pitches, repeats delivery and release point.

Stone Krogman, RHP, Liberty-Wentzville, 2017
Krogman is a 6-foot-3 195-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, sat 82-84 mph with fastball, one of top RHP velos for the event, works bottom of zone, curveball at 71-72 mph, 11-to-5 shape, change up at 76-78 mph, fastball arm speed, slight sink, controlled delivery, quick arm speed, arm works, repeats well, throw with regular effort keeping body under control.

Nick Logusch, RHP, DeSmet, 2017
Logush is a 6-foot-1 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, touched 88 mph twice during bullpen, top RHP velo for the event, sat 85-86, strike thrower with three pitches, curveball has downward action, 12-to-6 shape, change up, sharp break, change up at 75-77, some arm side sink, over the top release, high leg lift, aggressive down the mound, smooth rhythm, increase in velo since last event, trending upwards.

Ben Maurer, RHP, Waterloo (IL), 2017
Mauer is a 6-foot-3 225-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2017 class. On the mound, over the top arm slot, simple and controlled throughout delivery, in-line stride, high percentage of strikes, fastball at 83-84 mph, one of top RHP velos for the event, curveball at 71-72 mph, 11-to-5 shape, sharp break, change up at 77-79 mph, works knees,

Matthew McGilvray, LHP, Washington, 2017
McGilvray is a 5-foot-9 175-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class.  On the mound, over the top release, controlled leg lift, smooth rhythm, throws with regular effort, 77-79 mph fastball, top LHP velos for the event, 64-65 mph curveball, 70-72 mph, 1-to-7 action, late break, change up, late sink, high percentage of strikes with three pitches.

Carson Meyer, RHP, Vianney, 2017
Meyer is a 6-foot-1 220-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, over the top arm slot, hands lift work with knee lift, throws with regular effort, stays in-line down the mound, fastball at 71-74 mph, 11-to-5 breaking ball at 62-65 mph, change up at 68-70 mph.

Mason Mitchell, LHP, Marquette, 2017
Mitchell is a 6-foot-2 200-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, over the top arm slot, smooth rhythm with acceleration in delivery strike thrower, 74-76 mph fastball, both sides of plate, 64-65 mph curveball 12-to-6 shape, some with late action, 68-70 mph change up, late downward action.

O’Connell is a 5-foot-11 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, three quarters release, tuck at balance point, hides ball well, body under control during delivery throwing with regular effort, 82-85 mph fastball, one of top RHP velos for the event, some running action, slurve-type breaking ball at 74-76 mph, 10-to-4 action, sharp break, change up at 67-73 mph, late arm side run.

Paten is a 6-foot-1 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. On the mound, high three quarters release, hands work over the head during wind up, controlled tempo, slight coil at balance point, fastball at 79-81 mph, some with running action, slurve-type breaking ball at 64-66 mph, 10-to-4 action, change up at 73-76 mph, some with arm side release.

Rogers is a 5-foot-10 135-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. On the mound, smooth rhythm in delivery, over the top release, body stays under control, fastball at 57-60 mph, curveball at 54-55 mph, 12-to-6 shape, change up at 55-56 mph, fastball arm speed.

On the mound, high three quarters arm slot, repeats well, high percentage of strikes, stays inline and under control as he gets down mound, touched 87 mph, one of top RHP velos for the event, worked 84-85 mph, late run, high three quarters release, has depth on breaking ball with 11-to-5 action, 62-64 mph, change up at 71-73 mph. Showing velo increase since last event, upward trend.
