Preseason All-State: Outfield Analysis
June 2, 2021
On March 20, the PBR Illinois team hosted its annual Preseason All-State showcase, bringing together a collection of the state’s best juniors in one place, Bo Jackson’s Elite Sports Dome in Lockport, Ill.
We began our post-event breakdown in the days that followed, detailing the prospects who exited the event with their prospect arrows pointed way up inside of this Quick Hits post. We highlighted the showcase’s biggest takeaways, focusing on the high-follow uncommitted juniors in the class, accompanied by written analysis and video. Later on, with the help of our TrackMan unit and Blast Motion devices, we published the TrackMan Files and the Blast Motion Board stories, as well as the highlights from the traditional statistics measured inside of our Statistical Analysis story.
Today, we’re continuing our position-by-position analysis by publishing the scouting reports on each of the outfielders who made it out to this event. We began our positional breakdowns on Tuesday, analyzing our catchers.
The top-three players ranked below are each committed, led by Whitney Young’s Brendan Summerhill (2022), a Kentucky recruit. Summerhill is listed as a physical, athletic 6-foot-3, 190 pounds and is highly projectable. His left-handed swing is among the best in the class, and he averaged an exit speed of 91.5 mph with a 98.5 max. Summerhill is also a 6.83 runner with athletic overall actions in the outfield. He’s a top-20-ranked player in the state’s junior class.
Luke Adams (Hinsdale Central, 2022), a Michigan State commit, averages some of the hardest-hit contact in the class, utilizing his muscular, physical 6-foot-3, 205-pound size from the right side. Surprisingly and impressively, Adams still managed to run a 6.66 at this event, which was down from the 6.93 he ran at the PBR Future Games in August.
Oklahoma-committed Ramon Jimerson Jr. (Sacred Heart-Griffin, 2022) left Preseason All-State with his arrow pointed up. He’s a compact and strong athlete, as a sub-7.00 runner with an easy right-handed swing that reached a max exit speed of 93.6 mph, and he topped 90 mph to home from the outfield.
