Mike Madej, SS, Providence Catholic, 2016
Purdue

Mike Madej6/8/15 - 5-foot-11, 185-pound switch-hitting middle infielder impressed with the bat and defensively in this contest. All at bats came from the left side, facing the right-handed Holba. Hits from an open setup, short stride, heel up off the ground pre-pitch, short, compact stroke, opposite field approach in this game, hitting the ball where it was pitched. Singled over the shortstops head on a 2-1 fastball in first at bat (flare hit). Triple down the left field line scored first run of the game in the third, also lined out left field in third at bat, so found the barrel twice in three at bats. HBP in final at bat, forcing in the game’s winning run. Made a great diving play running backwards on a ball flared into shallow center field in the second inning. Soft hands at second base, arm is accurate, below average runner (7.47 in the 60). Madej is ranked No. 79 in IL’s 2016 class, and profiles as an offensive second  baseman who’s a tough out at the plate from both sides. Hitting .416 on the year with 12 doubles, 5 triples, and two home runs.

Owen Starr, RHP, Bradley-Bourbonnais, 2016
Colorado School of Mines

Owen Starr6/16/15 - 6-foot, 165-pound, right-handed hitting RHP/OF. On the mound showed a feel for three pitches. Works from a high ¾ arm angle from his ear with a short arm action. Tall and fall online delivery with toe up at balance point. Some rhythm with level shoulders. Fastball sat 80-82 mph. Threw curveball for strikes at 65-66 mph with 11-5 shape and gradual action. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Accurate throws with average arm strength. Soft hands with fluid footwork and a clean exchange while playing thru the ball. Threw 84 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a slightly open stance with hands preset back. Up the middle approach with a level swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.21. 

Mike Fuentes, RHP, Bremen, 2017
Northern Illinois

Mike Fuentes2/22/15- 6-foot-3, 178-pound, right-handed hitting RHP/SS with a lanky, athletic build. In the field has a long arm action from an over the top arm slot. Carry on throws with average hands and slower actions. Threw 78 mph across the infield. At the plate hits from a tall open stance heel turn load with a short stride. Opposite field hitter with stiff rhythm. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.86. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, clean arm action. Tall and fall online delivery. Uphill shoulders with an athletic finish. Threw fastball for strikes down in the zone with cut at 80-82 mph. Threw curveball for strikes with 11-5 to 12-6 shape at 66-69 mph. Straight changeup sat 70-72 mph.
