Some belated recruiting news from across Illinois:
Marshawn Taylor, a slick-fielding Class of 2013 middle infielder from Simeon HS, has verbally committed to Eastern Illinois University. The left-handed hitting Taylor is one of the top defensive middle infielders in the junior class. Taylor marks the second junior prospect to commit from Simeon’s vaunted roster, joining OF Corey Ray (Louisville).
Nicholas Davito, a long and loose 6-foot-3 RHP from Lockport HS, has committed to Lewis University. Davito was a standout performer at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase in January, when he showed an easy mid-80s fastball with, it seems, more in the tank.
Tyler Brennan, a 6-foot-2 RHP from Schlarmann HS, has committed to Danville Area CC. As a junior last winter, Brennan impressed at the Preseason All-State Showcase with his easy 85-87 mph fastball. Danville Area CC also landed Schlarmann RHP Alec Neal.
Michael Reinisch, an athletic catcher from Glenbrook South HS, has committed to North Central College. Reinisch was an all-conference performer on Glenbrook South’s Central Suburban South championship club as a junior last spring.
Erik Fetchko, a 6-foot, 180-pound catcher from Plainfield East HS, has committed to Purdue University North Central.
Joseph Campbell, a catcher from Waterloo HS, has committed to University of Illinois-Springfield.
