The Prep Baseball Report's Preseason ID showcase took place on Sunday February 16th at the Romeoville Athletic Center in Romeoville, IL. 111 prospects completed a pro-style workout for the PBR Illinois Scouting Staff, several of whom were new to PBR.

2016 OF Jack Suwinski, currently ranked 13th in the Illinois Class of 2016 Rankings, comes in as the number one outfield prospect. Suwinksi threw 89 mph from the outfield while also showing good bat speed at the plate with a short level swing path.

2018 OF Alek Thomas made his PBR debut at the event showing off his tool set throwing 80 mph from the outfield, showing 91 mph exit velocity from a tee, and running the 60 at 7.08.

1. Jack Suwinski, OF, Taft, 2016
6-foot-1, 190-pound, left-handed hitting outfielder. Athletic build. In the field has a long arm action from an over the top arm slot. Accurate throws with life and carry, quick instincts. Showed off his arm strength throwing 89 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a crouched, open stance, with a smooth load, and a short stride. Shows an explosive lower half with good bat speed. Line drive, gap-to-gap hitter, with a short, level swing path, and good extension. Showed strength with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.20.

2. Alek Thomas, OF, Mount Carmel, 2018
5-foot-10, 157-pound, left-handed hitting outfielder. Projectable frame. In the field has a long, loose arm action from an over the top arm slot. Sot hands, fluid footwork, with a clean exchange. Threw 80 mph from the outfield.  At the plate hits from a tall, narrow, open stance, with a drop load, and leg kick stride. Pull hitter with a fast bat. Showed present strength with 91 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.08. High ceiling, toolsy prospect, who will continue to improve with maturity.

3. Miles Simington, OF, Normal Community, 2017
5-foot-8, 178-pound, left-handed hitting outfielder. Small, strong frame. In the field has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Threw 78 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a balanced stance, loads to backside, with a short, leg kick stride. Opposite field hitter, strong hands, fast bat, with a short swing path. Showed present strength with 93 mph exit velocity form a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.86.

4. Damian Pierce, OF/LHP, Springfield, 2017
6-foot-1, 205-pound, left-handed hitting OF/LHP. Strong lower half. In the field has a short arm action with some carry on throws. Threw 81 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from an open, spread out stance. Smooth load with a short stride. Line drive, gap-to-gap hitter with an uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.70. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle, with a short, stiff arm action, max effort. Tall and fall, online delivery, with a square landing and recoil. Erratic command of fastball that showed some life and run at 81-82 mph. Curveball showed 2-8 and occasional sweeping shape at 63-67 mph. Changeup sat 69-72 mph.

5. Jonny Butler, OF, Minooka, 2017
6-foot-2, 155-pound, left-handed hitting outfielder. Lanky, athletic, projectable frame. Short arm action from an over the top arm slot, and accurate throws. Soft hands with fluid footwork. At the plate hits from a balanced spread out stance, smooth load, short stride, and good balance. Shows above average bat speed with loose, easy hands. Line drive, gap-to-gap hitter with a short, level swing path and fluid rhythm. 73 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.31.

Brett Bagus, OF, Brother Rice, 2017
5-foot-10, 170-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder. Athletic build. In the field has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot, accurate throws, with average arm strength. Threw 79 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from an open stance, drops hands on load with a short stride. Short uphill swing path, with no lower half. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.09.

Mike Baumgardner, OF, Neuqua Valley, 2018
5-foot-7, 160-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder. Small frame with a strong lower half. In the field has a long arm action from an over the top arm slot. Soft hands, with fluid footwork, plays thru the ball well. Threw 71 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a wide base, loads to backside, with a short, leg kick stride. Long, uphill swing path with some stiffness. 72 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.36. Will continue to improve with maturity.

Austin Cerny, OF, Hinsdale Central, 2016
5-foot-8, 150-pound, left-handed hitting outfielder. Small, athletic build. In the field has a long, loose arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Accurate throws with average arm strength. Average hands with fluid footwork. Threw 79 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a balanced, open stance. Knee jab load to back side with a linear lower half. Pull hitter with average bat speed. Showed strength thru contact with 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.33.

Dominik Garcia, OF/LHP, Lake Park West, 2016
5-foot-6, 170-pound, left-handed hitting OF/LHP. In the field has a long arm action from a high ¾ to over the top arm slot. Some accuracy with average hands. Threw 68 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a leg kick stride, and average balance. Gap-to-gap, line drive hitter with short, level swing path. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 8.17. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Slight drop and drive delivery, online, level shoulders throughout, with a closed landing. Fastball sat 67-68 topping out at 69 mph. Slider showed 2-8 shape and sat 60-64 mph. Changeup showed cutting action and sat 67-68 mph.

John Gountanis, OF, Maine West, 2015
5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. In the field has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Threw 61 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short stride. Average balance with a long uphill swing path. 65 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.90.

Jack Hendricks, OF, Fenwick, 2016
5-foot-9, 170-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder. Strong build. In the field has a long arm action, from an over the top arm slot. Accurate throws with average arm strength. 5-foot-9, 165-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder. In the field has a long arm action from a ¾ to high ¾ arm slot. Aggressive fielder who plays thru the ball. Threw 76 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a tall open stance, loads hands to backside, with a short stride. Line drive, gap to gap hitter with average to fast bat speed. Showed some strength with 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.26.

Jimmy Laurenti, OF/SS, Aurora Central Catholic, 2017
6-foot, 165-pound, right-handed hitting utility player. In theoutfield has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot with some accuracy. Threw 73 mph from the outfield. In the infield has a short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Threw 69 mph across the infield. At the plate hits from a balanced, spread out stance. Long, uphill swing path. 74 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.57.

Andrew Loberg, OF/MIF, Waubonsie Valley, 2016
5-foot-7, 140-pound, right-handed hitting utility player. In the infield has a short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Fields ball close to body. Threw 73 mph across the infield. In the outfield showed a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Accurate throws with average hands. Threw 75 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from an open stance with a high back elbow and a short stride. Average balance with a long, level swing path. Ryan Louck, OF/LHP, Plainfield East, 2018
5-foot-10, 150-pound, left-handed hitting OF/LHP. In the field has a long, stiff arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Slower footwork with some accuracy on throws. Threw 75 mph from the outfield. At the plate has a balanced setup, loads to backside, with a linear lower half. Line drive pull hitter with a level swing. 71 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.74. On the mound works from a ¾ arm angle with a long, loose, clean arm action. Tall and fall delivery with average arm speed. Athletic delivery with smooth rhythm. Closed shoulders, crossfire, with an open toed landing. Fastball flashed sink and sat 73-74 mph. Sweeping curveball while maintaining arm speed that sat 58-61 mph. Splitter sat 68-69 mph. Will continue to improve with maturity.

Kyle MacFarlane, OF, Plainfield Central, 2016
5-foot-9, 145-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder. Small, lanky, athletic build. In the field has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot with some carry and life on his throws. Threw 83 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a wide, open stance with a long, toe-tap stride. Opposite field hitter with a long, uphill swing path. 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.05.

Giuseppe Mattera, OF/LHP, Pleasant Plains, 2018
5-foot-10, 148-pound, left-handed hitting OF/LHP. Lanky, athletic frame. In the field has a long, loose arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Plays thru the ball with online actions. Threw 82 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a tall balanced setup with a short heel-lift stride. Line drive gap-to-gap hitter with a solid, uphill swing path. 78 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.52. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm slot with a long arm action. Regular effort with a tilt and topple delivery, and flashed a quick arm. High hands throughout, uphill shoulders, and spins off to 1^st base side. Fastball showed occasional cut and sat 77-80 mph. Curveball with 2-8 shape that sat 58-59 mph. Changeup with cutting action sat 62-64 mph. Will continue to improve with maturity.

Nolan Moeller, LHP/OF, Rock Falls, 2016
6-foot, 155-pound, left-handed hitting LHP/OF. In the field has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot with some accuracy. Threw 72 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a spread out, slightly open stance with a smooth load, and heel lift stride. Line drive, gap to gap hitter with a short, level swing path. 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 8.31. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle long arm action, and easy effort. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing. Fastball showed some armside run and sat 71-72 mph. Threw curveball for strikes that sat 59-60 mph. Changeup flashed sink and sat 60-64 mph.

Kyle Nolan, OF/RHP, Lincoln-Way Central, 2016
6-foot, 155-pound, right handed hitting OF/RHP. In the field has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Some accuracy with average hands. Threw 74 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a wide, balanced setup with a short stride. Good balance with average bat speed, and a long swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action and regular effort. Slight crossfire with a closed, square landing. Straight fastball for strikes that sat 72-74 mph. Curveball showed sluve shape and sat 63-64 mph. Changeup sat 68-69 mph.

Trevor Olson, OF, Plainfield North, 2016
5-foot-11, 175-pound, left-handed hitting outfielder. In the field has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Accurate throws throwing 75 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a tall slightly open stance, short load to backside, with a leg lift stride. Line drive hitter at times with a long swing path. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.62.
