Scheck transfers, and other recruiting news

Jeremy Scheck, who was one of the top left-handed pitching prospects in the Class of 2011, has transferred from Clemson University and will attend the University of Illinois. The 6-foot, 185-pound Stevenson HS graduate will be eligible to play for the Illini next spring.

Scheck, who features an upper-80s fastball, missed his senior season at Stevenson after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Prior to his injury, Scheck was a top 10 prospect in Illinois’ loaded Class of 2011.

In other recruiting news:

Patrick Bellinger, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound RHP from Schaumburg HS, has committed to the University of Evansville. Bellinger is a long and lean right-hander who possesses considerable upside.

Jordan Schwartz, a switch-hitting MIF from Highland Park HS, has committed to the University of Texas at Dallas. Schwartz features a clean, mechanically sound swing from either side of the plate and ran a 7.02 60 at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase in October.

Derrick Mason, a 1B/LHP from Machesney Park Harlem HS, has committed to McHenry County College.
