Underclass Games: Statistical Analysis

The 2019 IL/WI Underclass Games were held at Les Miller Field @ Curtis Granderson Stadium in Chicago, Illinois on July 23. The invite-only event featured many of the best uncommitted 2022 prospects from Illinois and Wisconsin, allowing them to showcase their talents in a morning showcase session followed by gameplay. The surplus amount of upside talent involved made for an exciting day in front of the Chicago skyline.
The event Quick Hits have already been released, which cover our initial impressions on some of the top performers. Below, the statistical analysis will break down the top numbers from each statistical category recorded at the event.

Max Fastball
Eleven players that toed the rubber in game-play registered a top fastball velocity of 82 mph or better. RHP Brendan Strenke featured the event’s best fastball -- topping at 88 mph and sitting between 85 and 87 throughout. RHP Luka Radicevich also ran his fastball up into the mid 80’s -- topping at 86 mph.
Exit Velocity
Nine players impressively registered an exit velocity of 90+ mph, event-wide. OF Cuyler Zukowski stood alone atop the exit velocity testing hitting 94 mph from the tee. OF Remmi Sweet and INF/C Victor Izquierdo tied for second place -- both topping 93 mph.
HOME-TO-FIRST
INF Christian Holmes claimed the top home-to-first time at a brisk 4.25 seconds. OF Remmi Sweet, INF Aiden Haney, and INF TJ Williams all followed suit with Sweet - all eclipsing the sub-4.3 mark.
Infield Velocity
Both Ryan Bibb and Mitchell Voit topped the infield velocity leaderboard throwing seeds over to first at 87 mph. Brady Small was a few ticks behind the leaders throwing 85 mph across the diamond, respectively.
Outfield Velocity
Brendan Strenke had an impressive showing in right field -- featuring a day best 90 mph throw from the outfield turf. Louisville commit Michael Lippe also showed off a high-level arm, falling just short of Strenke with at 89 mph toss to home.
Catcher Velocity
Charlie Jarvis took home the best catcher velocity of the day topping at 79 mph from the crouch. Nico Acevedo finished a tick behind the leader at 78 mph.
Catcher Pop-Times
Hayden Christiansen showed impressive actions out of the chute leading all catchers with a 2-flat pop-time to second. Nico Acevedo, and Charlie Jarvis finished second and third, respectively, while being the only other two backstops to eclipse the sub-2.10 mark.
