On Sunday, Oct. 17, the PBR Illinois staff returned to The MAX Sports Complex to host the fall’s Underclass Showcase. This annual event serves as an opportunity for prospects in the state’s 2024-25 classes to display their talents in front of our scouting staff prior to the start of the off-season. There were nearly 60 prospects who made the trip to The MAX on Sunday to participate in a pro-style workout in front of our evaluators.

Today, our scouting staff will begin to roll out all our prototypical post-event content pieces, starting with this statistical analysis. Below we’ll highlight players that put up numbers from a traditional standpoint, such as leaders in the 60-yard dash, max throwing velocities, and other data gathered from the day. 

We’ll also roll out more analysis as the week rolls on, like a takeaways piece from the day and deeper data dives with the statistics collected from our technological partners at TrackMan and Blast Motion. 

For now, take a look at which players put out noteworthy statistical outputs.

STAT STORY

+ Mentioned inside our “Quick Hits” as one of the day’s standouts, INF/C Enzo Infelise (Providence Catholic, 2025) had an all-around impressive statistical performance at this event. The 6-foot, 190-pound multi-positional prospect recorded amongst the day’s hardest hit balls, squaring his best ball up at 91 mph. Infelise also led all hitters in average exit velocity (88.37 mph), average distance (286 ft.), and max batted distance (341 ft.). He finished atop the event’s leaders in infield throwing velocity (81 mph), catcher velocity (74 mph), and average pop times (2.00-to-2.01 seconds). Infelise also ran his fastball up to 79 mph later on in his workout, which was the second highest number from a 2025 graduate at the event. 

+ OF Luke Jurack (Hinsdale Central) debuted in our first ever Class of 2024 rankings, currently slotted at 33rd overall on our board. He’s a prominent athlete for his age, as the 5-foot-10, 170-pound Jurack ran the day’s fastest 60-yard dash, clocking a 6.88 on our lasers. Like Jurack, MIF Trey Schilling (Lincoln Community, 2024) was the event leader in a respective category, recording the day’s hardest throw across the infield at 84 mph. 

+ OF Anthony Xydakis (Morris, 2024) improved his stats from last month’s Rhino Scout Day at this event. Xydakis ran the day’s second fastest 60-yard dash time at 6.93 seconds and also led all outfielders in throwing velocity, reaching back for an 84 mph best during his defensive workout. 

+ OF Luca Royer (Lake Forest, 2024) stands at a physical 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame and translates that advanced strength onto the diamond. Royer led all batters in max exit velocity, peaking at 93 mph, and he was also amongst the day’s outfield leaders in throwing velocity with an 81 mph best. 

+ LHP Joe Olson (St. Laurence, 2025) and RHP Keegan Waters (Morris, 2024) tied for the event lead in peak fastball velocity, each of them topping at 82 mph with their respective heaters.
