On June 8, the PBR Illinois team hosted players ranging from the classes of 2023 through 2025 at The MAX facility in McCook for its Underclass Trials - North showcase.

As the Illinois scout team began to break down a lot of the talent being seen for the first time, there were a lot of takeaways. This event previewed what the northern part of the state has to look forward to in years to come.

We published our Quick Hits from the event yesterday, providing a few highlight performances that stood out on Wednesday. Today, we’ll dive deeper into the numbers side of things and shine some light on the top statistical performances from this event. With the help of our partners at TrackMan and Blast Motion, we’ll be able to provide more data-filled information as the week rolls on, so be on the lookout for that.

For now, let’s dive into those who put up some intriguing numbers on Wednesday afternoon:

+ OF Cole Kardatzke (Downers Grove South, 2023) is a 6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitting athlete that stood out statistically from Wednesday’s event. Kardatzke ran the fastest 60-yard dash of the event (6.87) and translated that quick-twitch athleticism into the batter’s box, barreling up his best batted ball at 95 mph - an event high. He also threw the second-hardest ball home from the outfield, reaching an 82 mph on his best toss.

+ Built at a lanky, highly projectable 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame, RHP/1B Tyler Martini (Stevenson, 2024) emerged as a follow name after putting up a noteworthy performance Wednesday afternoon. He kicked off his workout by running a 7.21 60-yard dash and hit the third-hardest ball of the event in his BP round at 89 mph. Martini’s 77 mph throw across the diamond was the event-high from the first base group and he also led the event in max throwing velocity from the outfield, bumping an 83 mph strike to home.

+ From behind the plate, C Henry Stried (Zion-Benton, 2023) is an extremely physical 6-foot-3, 215-pound athlete that showed off some loud tools in his workout. Stried showed off a strong arm from the chute, as his best throw down to the bag topped out at an event-high 77 mph. He also tied three other players with the third-highest max exit speed of the day at 89 mph. Stried’s arm strength translated well to the mound as well, pumping his fastball in at 83-84 mph and reaching an 85 mph.

+ The physicality attached to the right-handed stroke of SS/RHP Ryan Dabe (Huntley, 2025) is noteworthy for his age. Noted in our quick hits for the athleticism he showed in his BP round, Dabe’s best batted ball left his barrel at 90 mph; the second-hardest max exit speed of the event and a well above-average number given his age.

+ Easily one of the biggest takeaways from this event was the emergence of RHP Maksymilian Pierga (Barrington, 2023) in his PBR debut. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Pierga uses every bit of his frame on the mound, reaching back for an event-high 90 mph fastball in his ‘pen, working in the 87-90 mph range throughout.

+ Another sophomore arm to establish himself as a follow in the state’s 2023 class is RHP Colin Miller (Hampshire). The 6-foot-2, 170-pound upside athlete finished one tick below first place on our Max Fastball Velocity leaderboard, pumping an 89 mph bullet and sitting at 86-88 mph.
