Today’s Player Spotlight is on unsigned senior Alec Skender. Skender is a 6-foot, 165-pound, athletic middle infielder. As a junior Skender was one of the leading offensive threats for the Metamora Redbirds.

Skender shows well in all facets of the game. Defensively, Skender demonstrates soft hands, quick feet and a clean exchange in the middle infield. His arm has been clocked at 78 mph across the infield. The athletically built infielder also impresses by running a 6.98 60.

Offensively, Skender hits from a wide setup. He uses his active lower half to create barrel whip through the zone. Skender also maintains balance throughout his swing; this allows him the ability to spray line drives to all fields.

Skender should prove to be an impact in the middle of the Redbird lineup in 2013.
