Updated Class of 2012 player rankings

The offseason saw some shake-ups in the Class of 2012 player rankings. More players emerged as high-level prospects, plus a few players made significant jumps.

For the first time since we began ranking the Class of 2012, there’s a new No. 1 prospect. But not by much.

Ryan Borucki, a 6-foot-4 LHP from Mundelein HS, has emerged as the top prospect in the senior class after his showing at the Super 60 Pro Showcase, where he showcased a loose 90-92 mph fastball with top-level secondary stuff.

Borucki barely edged Marian Catholic HS LHP Brett Lilek, who has been the No. 1-ranked prospect for two-plus years.

Rounding out the top 10 are Oak Forest HS RHP Kyle Funkhouser, Carmel HS LHP/OF Alex Young, Niles West HS INF Kevin Ross, Highland Park HS C Jason Goldstein, Providence HS INF/RHP Ryan Koziol,  Oswego East HS RHP Matt Schultz, Lyons Township HS RHP Steven Heilenbach and St. Rita HS C Zack Soria.
