Updated Class of 2013 player rankings released

By Sean Duncan

The updated Illinois Class of 2013 player rankings are now released. Over the last three months, the senior class continued to prove that it is deep in talent, which made putting together the top 200 list that much more difficult.

Andy Honiotes (Geneva HS), a 6-foot-3 RHP who’s committed to the University of Miami, takes over as the No. 1-ranked prospect, narrowly edging out RHP/SS Ryne Roper from Harrisburg HS. OF Jordan Getzelman (Prairie Ridge HS), OF Corey Ray (Simeon HS) and RHP/3B Keith Lehmann (Lyons Township HS) hold firm in the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 are C Brent Gibbs (Alton HS), INF/RHP Kevin Smith (Lincoln-Way North HS), C Ryan Lidge (Barrington HS), OF Anthony Ray (St. Rita HS) and RHP Zach Burdi (Downers Grove South HS).

Lidge, a switch-hitting catcher with arm strength, is one of the class’s biggest risers after his whirlwind summer that included a strong showing at the Area Code Games. Other big risers include RHP Cody Sedlock (Rock Island Alleman HS), C/1B Anthony Drago (Lake Zurich HS), 2B Ronell Coleman (Simeon HS), OF Jeff Evak (Neuqua Valley HS), RHP Bobby Skogsbergh (Hinsdale Central HS) and RHP Regynold Johnson Jr. (Marian Catholic HS), to name a few.

With so many talented players in Illinois, there are still plenty of high-level players who are still uncommitted.
