February 16, 2024
This Monday, February 19th, the Prep Baseball Illinois team is hosting the Lockport Preseason ID at Bo Jackson’s Elite Sports Dome in Lockport, Ill. This is an open event for all high school classes (2024-27), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

EVENT HISTORY
We've been hosting this event for the past seven years, and it's consistently provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the PBR Future Games and Illinois State Games. Among the players in attendance at this event in 2023, there are already 53 commitments among them
Last year’s event featured MIF Brady Green (Oak Park-River Forest, 2025) who earned an invitation to the PBR Future Games after the event. He also attended the Illinois State Games last August before committing to Northern Illinois University in October.
We saw over 15 prospects go on and receive invites to the Illinois State Games in 2023, including LHP Tyler Ledvina (Lincoln-Way East, 2024; Heartland CC) and C Dasaan Lee (De La Salle, 2024; Morton College).
We're looking forward to checking in on the next crop of talent from this event to earn next-level attention in the coming weeks, months, and years.
2024 ROSTER
This year's roster is already shaping up nicely, just like in years past.
One of the state’s top prospects is set to attend in OF Nate George (Minooka, 2024; Eastern Illinois commit). George is currently ranked No. 10 in the state’s 2023 class, and is a strong and athletic right/right prospect. We saw him run a 6.39 60 time at last year’s event, while also recording a max exit velocity of 103.7 mph, a max distance of 377 feet, and an outfield velocity of 94 mph. We’re eager to see the strides George has made over an offseason of work.

RHP/3B Cody Freitas (Bradley-Bourbonnais; Arizona commit) is currently ranked No. 16 in the states’ 2025 class, and we’re looking forward to getting an updated look at him on Monday. A strong build at 6-foot, 190-pounds, we’ve seen Freitas’ fastball up to 92 mph with 21.4 inches of IVB. He also throws a sharp, 11/5 shaped curveball and a low-80s change-up with 14.2 inches of horizontal movement. He’s a strong right-handed hitter, too, producing a max exit velocity of 96.2 mph at the same event last year.

OF Riley Contreras (Hinsdale Central, 2026) is an intriguing prospect heading to the Bo Dome on Monday. Contreras produced a max exit velocity of 87.3 mph at last year’s event and also ran a 7.02 60 time. He’s got clear strength throughout his 5-foot-11, 186-pound frame, and we’re excited to see the strides he’s made since last seeing him at the same event last year.
One player we’re really excited to get a look at is MIF Luca Agne (Plainfield North, 2027) who currently stands in a 5-foot-6, 140-pound frame. Agne impressed our staff this past fall at the Underclass Showcase both at the plate and defensively. He has all kinds of athleticism and fluidity at the plate and on the dirt, and with continued development and strength added, Agne will continue to be a name-to-know in the state’s 2027 class.
Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a PBR showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.
EVENT CHECK-IN PROCESS

Additionally, in an effort to continue and develop contactless check-in strategies, upon arrival, players will scan a QR Code with their smart phone camera that will lead them to a Google Form. On that Form, players will enter their name (matching the spelling on their PBR profile) and hit submit. Upon submission, players will be prompted to click a link that will direct them to their jersey color and number, located next to their registered name.
