Perlmutter, several others pick their schools



Recruiting news from around the state:

 

Josh Perlmutter, an athletic 5-foot-11, 190-pound OF from New Trier HS, has committed to Northwestern University. Perlmutter is one of the premier athletes in the class, and he possesses all the tools to be a big-time player. At the PBR Top Prospect Showcase in June, he ran a 6.76 60 and then was clocked at 88 mph from the outfield. Offensively, he has quick hands and power potential from the right side. As a junior, Perlmutter hit 4 home runs, drove in 26 and scored 29 runs for the Trevians.

Zack Kolakowski, an athletic middle infielder from Fremd HS, has committed to the University of Illinois.

 

Brad Burton, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound OF/RHP from Illini Bluffs HS, has committed to Illinois Central College. As a three-year starter, Burton has hit .482 for his career. In 2011, Burton hit .507 with 6 home runs, 3 triples, 9 doubles and 28 RBI. On the mound, he boasted a 0.66 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched.

 

Matt Kramer, a RHP from Plainfield East HS, has committed to Judson University. Kramer was one of the top pitchers  at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase on Oct. 16.

 

Brady Wright, a physical 6-foot-4, 210-pound RHP/INF from Anna-Jonesboro HS, has committed to Rend Lake College.

 

Austin Fender, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound LHP from Tolono Unity HS, has committed to John A. Logan JC. As a junior, Fender struck out 99 in 52 innings and posted a 0.81 ERA.

 

John Hayes, an OF/LHP from Lincoln-Way West HS, has committed to North Park University.
