Over 10 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Illinois staff.

TAKEAWAYS

Along with the statistical analysis, our staff is taking a look at some of the day's top prospects, found below:

Some of the bigger winners on the day include: INF Kruz Koester (Benton, 2028), OF Maxwell Elliott (Massac County, 2027), INF Ryan Musselman (Massac County, 2028), Dane Johnson (Freeburg, 2027), INF Rhett Lambert (Centralia, 2027), and RHP Fisher Watts (Crab Orchard, 2028).

+ Koester is a physical right-handed hitter at 6-foot, 216-pounds, who put on a loud display throughout batting practice. He averaged 90 mph off the bat with a peak EV of 97 mph and a max batted distance of 332 feet. His swing worked flatter through the zone with extension while keeping the ball on a line primarily to the pull-side.

+ Elliott is a left-handed hitter who showed well all-around at the event. At a wiry 5-foot-11, 176-pounds with strength, he showed strong hands with line drive intent while using the whole field throughout BP. He also ran a 7.09 60 and showed quality and natural actions in the outfield.

+ Musselman is a long-levered 6-foot-2, 187-pound right-handed hitter who created extension through contact, worked gap to gap with line drives and flashed easy jump off the barrel with a peak EV of 98 mph.

+ Johnson, fresh off a 4th place finish at the 2A State Finals for Freeburg was one of the more impressive right-handed hitters on the day. Standing at 5-foot-11, 196-pounds with present strength throughout, he created noticeable jump off the battel and used the whole field with line drives; he averaged 95 mph off the bat (T99 mph) with a max batted distance of 374 feet.

+ Lambert is an upside right-handed hitter to continue to follow at a wiry 5-foot-10, 140-pounds. He led the event in the 60, running a 7.01. Offensively, he has line drive intent to the middle/pull-side parts of the field while flashing jump off the barrel; peaking at 92 mph off the bat with a max batted distance of 321 feet. Defensively, he shows natural actions up he middle paired with an accurate arm that should allow him to stick there moving forward.

+ Watts continued to perform well in front of our staff after showing well at a Prep Baseball Tournament earlier in the summer. At 6-foot-1, 181-pounds, he sat 84-86 mph with his fastball that had carry through the zone (avg. 17.8" IVB). Watts then turned to two breaking balls; a 76-78 mph curveball with an average spin rate of 2300 rpm, and a 76-78 mph slider that he threw for strikes 75% of the time. He rounded out his mix by turning over a changeup at 76-78 mph with tumble (avg. 4" IVB).
