Between the Lines Scout Day: Outfielder Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Kansas held the Between the Lines Scout Day at The BTL Baseball Facility in Shawnee, Kansas.  Nearly twenty-five players participated in the 2022 to 2019 classes from around the area.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Players can now updated their profiles with a 
ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on ScoutPlus.

Here is a closer look at the outfielders from the event.

Outfielders

Wyatt Barney RHP / OF / Desoto , KS / 2021

Barney is a 6-foot-2 155-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.63 home to first and had an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in athletic position, efficient load, short in line stride, compact swing short to contact, middle of the field approach, level swing plane.  In the outfield, over the top arm slot, long arm circle, controlled action with clean exchange on time with footwork, 76 mph positional velocity.

Zachary Brink 1B / LHP / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2021

Brink is a 5-foot-9 180-pond left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.63 home to first and had a 70 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open loaded in back leg, minimal load, simple and repeatable, slightly closed stride, feel for the barrel, loose hands, gap to gap line drives.  At first base, short high three quarters arm slot, fluid actions, quick transfer and throw, mostly accurate throws, 82 mph positional velocity.

Tristen Everard OF / 2B / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2021

Everard is a lean 6-foot 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.30 home to first and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts open, minimal load with pre-pitch rhythm in hands, showed range in swing, hands manipulate the barrel, quick bat speed, line drives to all fields, high finish.  On the infield, quick to the ball with footwork, clean exchange, short high three quarters arm slot, quick catch and throw, mostly accurate throws, 81 mph positional velocity.

Anthony Fincher RHP / OF / Blue Valley, KS / 2022

Fincher is a 6-foot-1 157-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 4.90 home to first and had a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in tall stance, hands walk away from stride, in line stride, level path, middle of the field approach.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, works behind the ball, crow hop, clean exchange on time with footwork, 68 mph positional velocity, projection in build.

William Jones OF / 1B / Blue Valley, KS / 2022

Jones is a tall and lean 6-foot 2 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran 4.20 home to first and had an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with wide base, minimal stride with upper half load, level bat path, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, smooth actions, plays behind and through the ball, short over the top arm slot, 76 mph positional velocity.

Josh Kellogg OF / RHP / De Soto, KS / 2021

Kellogg is a long limbed 6-foot 140-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.43 home to first and had a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, short reverse to tap, minimal hand load, short path to contact, stays on ball, level bat path, mostly middle to pull line drives during hitting evaluations.  In the outfield, over the top arm slot, works behind the ball with fluid footwork, creates momentum through the catch, 72 mph positional velocity.

Hunter Milstead 1B / OF / Olathe South , KS / 2020

Milstead is a 6-foot 162-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 4.37 home to first and had a 72 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, smooth pre-pitch rhythm, controlled leg lift, slight lift in bat path, stays in back leg, middle to pull side contact during hitting evals.  In the outfield, over the top arm slot, stays under control, works through the ball with footwork, clean exchange, 72 mph positional velocity.

Sterling Neumer RHP / OF / Olathe Northwest , KS / 2022

Neumer is a lanky 6-foot-3 145-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.66 home to first and had a 76 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, wide base, weight shift in lower half to load, reverse toe tap, strides back to set up, slight lift to bat path, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, short over the top arm slot, clean exchange, quick to the ball, feet create momentum through the catch, 77 mph positional velocity, projection for strength in build.

Aaron Noll OF / RHP / Maur Hill Mount Academy, KS / 2021

Noll s a 5-foot-9 135-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.53 home to first and has a 78 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, short and compact swing, balanced set up, controlled throughout swing, shot stride, level bat path, swing produced mostly pull to middle of the field line drives, one handed finish.  In the outfield, over the top arm slot, aggressive to the ball, fluid exchange with crow hop, works through the ball, 81 mph positional velocity.

Ryan Rast 3B / OF / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2020

Rast is a strong 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 4.37 home to first and has a 97 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a tall and thin stance, slightly open, high hands, minimal load, in line stride, hits with leverage in back leg, flashed pull power, level swing path.  In the outfield, loose over the top arm slot, aggressive to the ball, quick exchange with active footwork, plays through the ball with momentum, 81 mph positional velocity.

Christian Trevino OF / 2B / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2021

Trevino is a 5-foot-6 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.89 home to first and had a 74 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in open stance, minimal load, short and compact swing, level path, repeatable swing, gap to gap line drives.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange, 65 mph positional velocity.

Isaiah Walker OF / OF / Blue valley Northwest, KS / 2021

Walker is an athletically built 5-foot-7 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.35 home to first and had an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in an open stance, controlled leg lift to load, short stride, quick bat speed, level through the zone, feel for the barrel, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, quick catch and throw, aggressive to the ball, feet create momentum through the catch, 76 mph positional velocity.
