MOKAN Summer Trials: 2021 and 2020 Pitchers Analysis

On July 5, Prep Baseball Report-Missouri/Kansas held the MOKAN Summer Trials at LaRoche Field in Fort Scott, Kansas.  Over 60 players on the 2021-2018 classes attended. 

We will break down the event position-by-position, taking a look at the 2021 and 2020 pitchers today.  Player profiles have been updated with video, running times, throwing velocities and profile picture.  Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Player's profiles have been updated with profile pictures, videos and stats from the event. Coaches will have new profiles to add their dashboard on ScoutPlus and players will be able to update information on their profile with ProspectPlus.

2020 and 2021 Pitchers

Hunter Allen RHP / Strafford , MO / 2021

Allen is a 5-foo-10 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class.  Allen comes from a an over the top release, smooth and controlled delivery, in line stride, hand raise and lower with leg lift and stride, fastball worked 62-64 mph, slight sink, breaking ball at 55-57 mp, gradual 12-to-6 action, change up at 58-60 mph, throws with fast ball arm speed, slight sink.

Brock Berry RHP / St Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2020

Berry is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Berry throws with an over the top release, throws with some effort, in line stride down the mound, repeats a simple delivery, fastball at 70-72 mph, some with cutting acton, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, early break, throws to the bottom of the zone, 66-67 mph change up, fastball arm speed, commands for a strike, slight arm side run. 

Ty Blecha LHP / Shawnee Mission Northwest, KS / 2021

Blecha is a 6-foot-2 148-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Blecha has a lean and long frame with loose arm action, high three quarters release, rotates at top of balance point, in line stride, smooth tempo throughout delivery, repeats, controlled, commands fastball to both sides of plate, 76-77 mpm, 69-60 mph, breaking ball, 1-to-7 action, looks to be a good pitch as he continues to develop, has feel, change up has slight arm side release, throws with near fastball arm speed, throws for a strike, 60-61 mph.

Luke Bradbury RHP / Fort Scott, KS / 2021

Bradbury is a 5-foot-10 140-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Bradbury threw a high percentage of strides, over the top release, aggressive down the mound, throws with some effort and intent, loose arm action, lean frame, fastball at 68-71 mph, commands both sides of the plate, slight run, curveball has 11-to-5 action, controllable, 63-65 mph, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, 57-59 mph, throws for strike, repeats a smooth delivery. 

Tate Gillen OF / Blue Valley, KS / 2021

Gillen is a 5-foot-11 145-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Gillen has a projectable frame with easy and loose arm action, throws with some effort at release, high three quarters arm slot, strides slight across body, fastball has arm side run, 72-74 mph, commands the strike zone, change up has sinking action to bottom of zone, 67-69 mph, near fastball arm speed, tight spinning 1-to-7 breaking ball, 57-60 mph, some with late break, athletic delivery with more in the tank as he continues to develop.

John Michael Gyllenborg OF / Rockhurst, MO / 2021

Gyllenborg is a 6-foot-2 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. Gyllenborg is long limbed and lean, arm action and build would suggest continued increases, over the top release, fluid tempo in delivery, commands zone with fastball, release out front, simple delivery, repeats, athletic finish, fastball at 73-75 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 action, gradual, misses on bottom of zone, change up has slight arm side release, throws with near fastball arm speed, throws for strike, mostly 66-68 mph.

Brennan Perkins OF / Rockhurst , MO / 2020

Perkins is a 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Perkins has a high three quarters arm sloth, in line stride, controlled delivery with fluid tempo, high number of strikes with three pitches, fastball worked 71-74 mph, occasional late running action, 11-to-5 breaking ball, late action, 64-65 mph, change up has slight cutting action, throws with near fastball arm speed, 64-68 mph, controllable.

Jace Peters 2B / Blue Valley High, KS / 2021

Peters is a 5-foot-11 145-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Peters comes from an over the top release point, in line stride, aggressive down the mound, throws with some effort at end of delivery, controlled leg lift, fastball at 70-71 mph, showed a slider with 10-to-4 action, 61-65 mph, gradual break, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, 62 mph, change up has slight sinking action, 59-63 mph. 

Cooper Thompson RHP / Minneapolis , KS / 2020

Thompson is a 5-foot-9 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. Thompson has an over the top arm slot, in line stride, tilts to back side on leg lift, fluid tempo during delivery, repeats, fastball at 70-73 mph, some with arm side sink, throws change up with near fastball arm speed, occasional arm side run, 62-61 mph, throws for a strike, throws breaking ball in the zone, 62-64 mph, slurve-type shape, gradual break, showed command of three pitches.

Jaden Vanek RHP / Lansing, KS / 2021

Vanek is a 5-foot-5 115-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. Vanek’s fastball has slight sinking action, 67-70 mph, over the top release, simple and repeatable delivery, throws breaking ball for a strike, 60-63 mph, 11-to-5 shape, gradual action, change up at 59-61 mph, near fastball arm speed,
