Prep Baseball Report- Missouri/Kansas held the MOKAN Summer Trials on July 16 at LaRoche Baseball Complex in Fort Scott, Kansas. Over thirty five players in the 2024-2020 classes attended.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Infielders

Jake Beckmann OF / RHP / Frontenac , KS / 2020

Beckmann is a lean and projectable 6-foot 165-pound right-handed hitting infielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He Ran a 6.93 60 and a 4.82 home to first.  He has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, loaded in back side, minimal load, quiet hands, lands in line with stride, loose and controlled swing, level path, gap to gap line drives. On the infield, high three quarters release, aggressive to the ball with footwork, quick exchange and throw, mostly accurate, clean exchange with momentum to throw after fielding the ball, 79 mph positional velocity.

Jacob Becker RHP / 3B / Shawnee Heights , KS / 2021

Becker is a 6-foot-1 175-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 6.99 60 and a 5.02 home to first.   He had an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, leg kick with quick tempo, in line stride, level path with some lift at finish, swing produced middle to pull side line drives. On the infield, 83 mph positional velocity, fields ball in athletic position, clean transfer, long arm circle, over the top arm slot, controlled feet with momentum to throw, accurate throws.

Dylan Blazer SS / 2B / Mill Valley , KS / 2023

Blazer is a 5-foot-11 151-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2023 class.  He ran a  7.81 60 and a 5.03 home to first.  He had a 77 mph exit velocity.   At the plate, tall stance, leg kick with minimal hand movement, in line stride, aggressive swing resulting in gap to gap line drives.  On the infield, quick transfer and throw, smooth footwork to the ball, clean transfer with mostly accurate throws, 71 mph positional velocity.

Nate Burdette OF / C / Maranatha Christian Academy, KS / 2020

Burdette is a stocky 5-foot-9 180-pound right-handed hitting infielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.48 60 and a 4.03 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with open stance, rocks to back side to load, controlled, minimal hand movement, level path through hitting zone, one handed finish, mostly pull side line drives. On the infield, 75 mph positional velocity, quick catch and throw, controlled footwork to ball, clean transfer, footwork works through the ball, mostly accurate throws.

Cole Chace C / SS / Blue Springs South, MO / 2023

Chace is a 5-foot-11 170-pound right-handed hitting infielder in Missouri’s 2023 class.  He ran a 7.88 60 and a 4.37 home to first.  He has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in open stance, athletic position, loads with lower half, hands walk way from stride, stays balanced, hands work inside the ball, gap to gap approach. On the infield, 84 mph positional velocity, stays under control, fluid footwork, gains ground after the catch, clean transfer, mostly accurate throws.

Quinn Diggs OF / 2B / Olathe North, KS / 2021

Diggs is a 5-foot-9 160-pound left-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.36 60 and a 4.25 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, loads with weight shift and hands, quick bat speed, level though the zone, loose hands, gap to gap approach, simple and repeatable swing. On the infield, fields ball out front, clean transfer with short over the top arm slot, quick release, smooth footwork the ball, accurate throws, 75 mph positional velocity.

Alex Dilley C / 3B / Olathe West, KS / 2020

Dilley is a 6-foot-2 195-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas 2020 class.  He ran a 7.58 60 and a 5.14 home to first.  He had a 93 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, controlled leg lift, hands separate from stride, smooth swing with accelerated hands, slight lift to bat path at finish, middle to pull side line drives.  On the infield, 84 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, active footwork, smooth to the ball, soft hands with clean transfer on time with momentum in feet, mostly accurate throws.

Cory Gleason 1B / 3B / Goddard Eisenhower, KS / 2021

Gleason is a 6-foot-2 195-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 7.57 60 and a 4.77 home to first.  He had an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, toe tap, slight hand movement, leverage in lower half, slight lift to bat path at times, middle to pull side contact, flashes pull side power.  On the infield, high three quarters arms slot, quick to the ball with feet, soft hands with quick transfer, accurate throws, big target at 1B, 79 mph positional velocity.

Kyle Leathers 2B / OF / Blue Valley Northwest, KS / 2021

Leathers is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.60 60 and a 4.93 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts in a wide base, loads with a weight shift to back side, loose and aggressive bat speed, stays balanced with loose hands and level path, gap to gap line drives during hitting evals.  On the infield, short high three quarters arm slot after a clean transfer, smooth footwork to the ball, gains ground with a pair of shuffles after transfer, mostly accurate throws, 69 mph positional velocity.

Russell Lucas III SS / 3B / Shawnee Mission Northwest, KS / 2022

Lucas is a 5-foot-9 155-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2022 class.  He ran a 7.95 60 and a 4.30 home to first.  He had an 82 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, tall set up short toe tap with short in line stride, hands manage the barrel, good barrel awareness, gap to gap line drives, stays balanced.  On the infield, short high three quarters arm slot, fluid footwork, creates momentum to throw after exchange, works behind the ball, plays through the catch, mostly accurate throws, 83 mph positional velocity.

Austin Mann 1B / OF / Liberty North, MO / 2021

Mann is a 6-foot-1 195-pound right-hand hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.68 60 and a 5.09 home to first.  He had a 90 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance, slight pre pitch rhythm in hands, short and quick stride, quick acceleration with hands, minimal load, short to contact with high finish in hands, gap to gap approach, flashing pull power.  On in the infield, over the top a release, fluid actions, exchange on time with momentum in feet, accurate throws, 80 mph positional velocity.

Lucas McKain SS / 3B / Airline, LA / 2021

McKain is a 6-foot-1 180-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Louisiana’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.75 60, a 4.59 home to first and had an 88 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load to back side, no wasted movement, in line stride, loose hand with good barrel awareness, works inside the ball, stays under control and balanced, repeatable swing.  On the infield, athletic actions, exchange and footwork in sync, clean transfer with momentum in footwork, accurate throws with short over the top arms lot, 80 mph positional velocity.

Cody Moore C / 1B / Mill Valley , KS / 2022

Moore is a 5-foot-10 178-pound right-handed hitting infielder in Kansas’ 2022 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and a 4.89 home to first.  He has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and thin set up, minimal load, attacks ball with in line stride, level through the zone, gap to gap contact, flashes pull side power. On the infield, 78 mph positional velocity, fields ball in athletic position, smooth footwork to ball, clean transfer, short over the top arm slot, arm works from different slots, clean arm action, accurate throws.

Vince Ray 2B / SS / Rockhurst, MO / 2022

Ray is a 5-foot-7 130-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2022 class.  He ran a 7.38 60 and a 4.37 home to first.  He had a 77 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, tall set up slightly open, rocks to back side to load, quiet hands, in line stride, level bat path, stays under control, gap to gap approach.  On the infield, quick to the ball, three quarters arm slot, footwork creates momentum to throw after the catch with shuffle of feet, mostly accurate throws, 73 mph positional velocity.

Jonah Sanford 3B / 2B / Harrisburg, MO / 2020

Sanford is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.80 60 and a 5.01 home to first.  He had a 79 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts in wide base with short stride, slight hand load, level path through extension, gap to gap line drives, hands control the barrel, repeats swing.  On the infield, smooth footwork to the ball with clean transfer and throw, works behind and through the catch, short arm action with quick release, creates momentum to throw with footwork, mostly accurate throws, 74 mph positional velocity. 

Keaton Scott C / SS / Hannibal , MO / 2022

Scott is a 5-foot-8 145-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2022 class.  He ran a 7.49 home to first and a 4.50 60.  He has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, controlled leg lift, in line stride, accelerated hands, flat swing plane resulting in gap to gap lines drives. On the infield, over the top release with footwork creating momentum after the catch, smooth to the ball, work behind the ball with clean transfer and throw, mostly accurate throws, 75 mph positional velocity.

Humraz Sidhu 3B / 1B / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2024

Sidhu is a long and lean 5-foot-11 135-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2024 class.  He ran a 8.00 60 and a 5.65 home to first and has a 75 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, slightly open set up, loads hands with stride, loose hands, slight lift to bat path, middle of the field contact.  On the infield, aggressive to the ball, high three quarters arms slot, clean exchange with soft hands, gains ground with footwork after the transfer, mostly accurate throws, 65 mph positional velocity, long and lean frame would suggest increases as he continues to develop. 

Quin Smith C / Rockhurst, MO / 2021

Smith is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed hitting infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.57 60 and a 5.16 home to first.  He has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up with rhythm in hands, rocks to back side with weight shift, toe tap to in line stride, level path through the zone, swing produced gap to gap line drives during batting practice. On the infield, 72 mph positional velocity, fields the ball out front, smooth footwork to the ball with clean transfer, gains ground with footwork after transfer, high three quarters arm slot, accurate throws.

Garrett Yonker 2B / RHP / Blue Valley West, KS / 2022

Yonker is a 5-foot-8 155-pound left-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2022 class.  He ran a 7.70 60 and a 5.06 home to first.  At the plate, starts in a tall stance, some hand load with controlled leg lift, in line stride, middle to pull contact. On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, clean glove to hand transfer, soft hands, works behind the ball, quick release, mostly accurate throws, 66 mph positional velocity.

Brayden Zirkle 2B / OF / Shawnee Heights, KS / 2021

Zirkle is a 5-foot-11 170-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.19 60 and a 4.68 home to first.  He had an 82 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, tall set up, thin base, some hand load, widens out during stride, level path, stays balanced, gap to gap line drives, repeats swing.  On the infield, over the top arm slot, stays under control with footwork, clean transfer and throw, mostly accurate throws, 72 mph positional velocity.

Deacon Zordel C / 1B / Silver Lake, KS / 2021

Zordel is a 6-foot 180-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 7.34 60 and a 4.84 home to first.  He had an 81 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, open stance, pre pitch rhythm in hands, toe tap to in stride, level path through zone, gap to gap approach. On the infield, 74 mph positional velocity, short over the top arm slot, active footwork on time with exchange, fluid actions, mostly accurate throws.
