The Barn Scout Day: Position Players

On January 13, Prep Baseball Report - Kansas held the The Barn Baseball Academy Scout Day.  Seventeen players attended the event in the 2021 to 2019 classes.  

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard.

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the position players  from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

Position Players

Carl Aikman SS / RHP / Washburn Rural, KS / 2019

Aikman is a 6-foot-2 195-pound switch hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2019. He ran a 4.57 home to first and has an 80 mph exit velocity from the right side and a 72 mph exit velo from the left side. Starts with open stance from both sides, smooth rhythms in hands pre swing, short in line stride, middle to pull side contact from the left side, more gap to gap from the right side.  On the infield, 81 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, clean exchange, feet create momentum to throw after the catch. 

Avery Brokenicky OF / Riley County, KS / 2020

Brokenicky is a 5-foot-9 158-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class. He Ran a 4.14 home to first and has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, strides in line, loud rhythm in hands, hands walk away from stride, middle to pull side contact during batting practice, solid hard contact. In the outfield, 77 mph positional velocity, quick to the ball, quick transfer and throw, over the top release, plays through the catch. 

Tyler Gerety SS / OF / Nemaha Central, KS / 2021

Gerety is a 5-foot-9 155-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.39 home to first and has an 80 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts in slightly open stance, controlled leg lift, rhythm in hands, aggressive and quick bat speed, middle to pull side contact.  In the outfield, hight three quarters release, crow hop, attacks the ball, plays through the catch, 83 mph outfield velo.  On the infield, 82 mph positional velocity, works behind the ball and through the catch, feet are quick and create momentum, high three quarters release.

Connor Halbert 1B / C / Marysville, KS / 2021

Halbert is a 5-foot-7 190-pound right-handed hitting first baseman and catcher in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 5.80 home to first and and has a 69 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, reverse toe tap with some hand load, in line stride, gap to gap approach.  Behind the plate, over the top release, 59 mph positional velocity, fluid exchange.  On the infield, 59 mph positional velocity, fields the ball in position ready to throw, clean exchange, over the top release. 

Brock Hillebert OF / 3B / Seaman , KS / 2019

Hillebert is a long and lean 5-foot-10 172-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.40 home to first and has an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with wide base, some hand load, aggressive and quick swing, loose hands and feel for the barrel, body stays under control, level path with consistent hard contact, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, athletic action, over the top release, smooth transfer on time with footwork, plays through the ball, build and actions suggest increases in the future.

Kolden Howerton C / 3B / Seaman, KS / 2021

Howerton is a 5-foot-9 155-pound left-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 4.31 home to first and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, fluid pre swing rhythm, in line stride, level path through the zone, middle to pull side contact, loose hands that generate bat whip.  Behind the plate, short over the top release, 71 mph positional velocity, creates momentum to throw, sits high to receive.  On the infield, 79 mph across the infield, over the top release, feet and hands work in sync with exchange, plays through the ball with momentum from feet.

Jordan Jackson RHP / 3B / Washburn Rural, KS / 2019

Jackson is a strong and lean 6-foot-3 190-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.32 home to first and has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with open and thin set up, slight hip rotation with leg kick and hand load, aggressive swing, gag to gap pop, accelerated and fast bat speed, aggressive.  On the infield, 82 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, fields ball in athletic position, gains ground after the catch, clean exchange.

Samuel Juarez 2B / OF / Seaman, KS / 2019

Juarez is a 5-foot-8 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.13 home to first and has an 83 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, simple swing mechanics, short stride with quiet hands, level path, hands control the bat, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velocity, plays through the ball aggressively, back side gets through to throw, exchange on time with feet, quick and athletic actions.

Andrew Khoury 2B / SS / Junction City, KS / 2021

Khoury is a long and lean 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.31 home to first and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall stance, short stride, some hand load as he strides, body stays under control, middle to pull side contact.  In the outfield, 77 mph positional velo, plays behind and through the ball, high three quarters release, clean hand to glove transfers.  On the infield, 72 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, clean transfer, quick the ball, creates momentum with shuffle after catch.

Kevin Mannell C / 2B / Jeff West , KS / 2021

Mannell is a 5-foot-8 140-pound right-handed hitting catcher, outfielder and infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.90 home to first and has a 72 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, rhythm in hands, reverse toe tap, feel for barrel, solid contact during batting practice, mostly middle line drives.  Behind the plate, sits low to receive, quick catch and throw, short over the top release, gains ground with feet, 70 mph positional velocity.  In the outfield, high three quarters release, quick to the ball, throws with some effort, fluid transfer on time with feet, 76 mph positional velocity. On the infield,  72 mph positional velocity, smooth transfer, short over the top release on time with quick shuffle in feet.

Conner McGehee SS / 2B / Hayden Catholic , KS / 2019

McGehee is a 5-foot-7 150-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.19 home to first and has a 71 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, reverse to tap, level path though the zone, gap to gap approach, body stays under control, hands manage the bat.  On the infield, 67 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, clean exchange, works through the ball, soft hands, fluid actions.

Chace McIlvaine 3B / 1B / Manhattan , KS / 2019

McIllvaine is a 6-foot-3 180-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.44 home to first and has a 79 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in open stance, short in line stride, quiet hands, pull side power, loose hands, level path through the zone, body stays under control.  On the infield, 68 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, soft hands, clean exchange, momentum after the catch.

Dylan Moon 3B / RHP / Clay Center , KS / 2019

Moon is a 5-foot-7 175-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 4.60 home to first and has a 72 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, starts in back leg, some hand load, strides slightly open, middle to pull side line drives. On the infield, 64 mph positional velocity, fields the ball out front, athletic position, fluid exchange on time with footwork.

Connor Richards OF / 3B / Rock Creek , KS / 2021

Richards is a 5-foot-10 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.61 home to first and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, in line stride, minimal hand load, body stays under control, middle to opposite field line drives. In the outfield, 72 mph positional velocity, short, high three quarters release, feet work through the ball, fluid exchange.

Eli Schnee C / 3B / Riley County, KS / 2020

Schnee is a 5-foot-10 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 4.77 home to first and has a 71 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with an open stance, controlled leg kick, in line stride, slight lift to swing path, middle to pull contact, flashes pull side pop. Behind the plate, 69 mph positional velocity, staggered feet with low target, feet on time with exchange, short over the top release. 

Jordan Zahn C / 3B / Seaman , KS / 2021

Zahn is a slender 6-foot-1 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.40 home to first and has a 68 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, quick reverse toe tap, quick hands with level path, gap to gap approach.  On the infield, quick to the ball, over the top releasee, clean transfer with active feet, creates momentum to throw.  Behind the plate, staggered set up, short over the top arm slot, short first step on time with fluid exchange, 63 mph positional velocity.
