2023 Creekside JC Showcase: A Kansas State transfer, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Mannell showed a fluid and repeatable delivery with good direction to the plate. He had good bore on his 91-92 fastball from a lower three-quarter release point and a snap finish. The right-hander flashed a firm 88 mph changeup with some sink and had feel to spin a low-80s slider.

Kevin Mannell: RHP/C, (2021) Seaman, KS. 6-foot-3, 175-pound slim frame. Advanced on the mound, where he showed lightning arm speed, also used a very quick arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher and uses easy effort. Has downhill shoulder and consistent balance point. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 87-89 mph; showed running action with heavy movement. Threw a tight slider (80-82) with plus action.

Mannell is an athletically built 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed hitting catcher and infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.34 home to first and had an 81 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, Mannell has an open stance, some rhythm in his hands as he loads with a weight shift, stride stays in line, hands manage the barrel showing range, gap to gap line drives, sprays ball to all fields with barrels awareness.  Behind the plate, 78 mph positional velocity, thin set up, slightly staggered, high exchange with short release, creates momentum to second base, over the top arm slot, receives the ball with quiet body. Will continue to fill out physically with athletic build. On the infield, plays behind the ball and gain ground through the exchange, quick release, high three quarters arm slot, short arm circle, 80 mph positional velocity.

Mannell has a projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds and is a right-handed hitting catcher, infielder and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 7.93 second 60 and posted an exit velocity of 79 mph. During batting practice, Mannell starts slightly open, reverse toe tap into load, in line stride, some rhythm with hands, showed some pop to left center field during round. Behind the plate, narrow set up, quick transfer to release, three-quarter release, positional velo of 76 mph, pop times between 2.00 to 2.13 seconds, mostly accurate throws. On the infield, Manell shows his athleticism, fluid footwork, clean transfers, momentum towards target, positional velo of 82 mph, very accurate throws. On the mound, Mannell works primarily from the stretch, controlled leg lift, slight across the body stride, some rhythm to his delivery, three-quarter release, clean arm action. Fastball sits 79-80 mph, tops at 81 mph, arm side run, thrown for strikes, slider is sharp, 71-75 mph.

1/13/18 - Mannell is a 5-foot-8 140-pound right-handed hitting catcher, outfielder, right-handed pitcher and infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.90 home to first and has a 72 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, rhythm in hands, reverse toe tap, feel for barrel, solid contact during batting practice, mostly middle line drives.  Behind the plate, sits low to receive, quick catch and throw, short over the top release, gains ground with feet, 70 mph positional velocity.  In the outfield, high three quarters release, quick to the ball, throws with some effort, fluid transfer on time with feet, 76 mph positional velocity. On the infield,  72 mph positional velocity, smooth transfer, short over the top release on time with quick shuffle in feet. On the mound, Mannell has a plenty of room to add strength on already athletic frame, high three quarters arm slot, hide ball well, simple and compact delivery, repeats, fastball at 71-73 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, gradual break, 66-69 mph, will be a good pitch as he continues to develop, change up has slight sink at 67-70 mph, fastball arm speed.
