Top-10 Profiles of 2020: No. 2 Levi Martin
December 28, 2020
As the year starts to unwind, our staff will start to highlight the top-10 most viewed profiles from 2020 - starting at 10 and counting down.
Our second most viewed profile of this year is Olathe South OF Levi Martin, the 22nd ranked prospect in the state’s 2022 class. A sturdy 6-foot-1, 195-pound athlete with proportional strength throughout his frame, Martin attended our MOKAN Fall Upperclass Games showcase, which was the last time we got an in-person look at him.
Here is what our state Scouting Director, Kevin Moulder, wrote in the event analysis about Martin:
“Physical 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame with present strength and athleticism. The right-handed hitter sets up in a wide, balanced stance with a small leg-lift load and short stride. Level path through the zone with some feel for the barrel. Short to contact with line-drives to all fields during BP. Recorded an 86 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.46 60-yard dash. In the outfield, fields ball out front with sure hands making 78 mph throws with accuracy. In the infield, works around the ball to field with adequate footwork and some glove stiffness. Made 77 mph throws from a short high-¾ arm slot. On the mound, works from a slower-tempo rocker-step delivery reaching a consistent balance point. Lands square to home with a tall finish. Delivers from a short high-¾ arm slot. Fastball was 78-80 mph with straight action, consistently for strikes. Curveball sat 61-64 mph with 12/6 break and good depth.”
Martin continues to look for a home as one of the top uncommitted prospects in the Kansas’ 2022 class.
