MOKAN Upperclass Games: Infielder Analysis

The PBR MOKAN Fall Upperclass Games took place on Sunday, October 4th at Creekside Baseball Complex. The event featured over 50 prospects from the 2021 and 2022 classes. 

Last week, we began to release our position-by-position analysis with reports on the catchers and outfielders. Today, we continue that coverage with the infielders.

Fletcher Aude 3B / SS / Paola , KS / 2021

Displays a physical, strong 5-foot-10, 200-pound frame. The right-handed hitter starts in a balanced, open stance using a quick leg-lift load and short stride to start his swing. Has a compact, level bat path through the zone producing line-drives to the middle of the field. Recorded a 76 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.76 60-yard dash. In the infield, showcases a good glove with quick transfers and adequate footwork. Made throws from a ¾ arm slot at 72 mph.

Nathan Bardsley RHP / 2B / Blue Valley West, KS / 2022

Showcases a proportional 5-foot-9, 180-pound frame with strength in his lower half. The right-handed hitter sets up in a tall, narrow stance with his bat resting on his shoulder. Uses a quick hand load and stride forward to dive into his swing, creating an uphill bat path through the zone. Generated solid contact with line-drives and fly-balls to his mid/pull side during BP. Registered an 83 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.73 60-yard dash. In the infield, displays quick, active footwork working around the ball to field. Funnels ball into his body well with his glove with clean exchanges and 77 mph throws with carry from a long high-¾ arm slot.

Will Bartkoski RHP / 1B / Veritas, KS / 2021

A physical, projectable 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame. The right-handed hitter sets up in an open, wide base. Starts his swing with a knee-to-knee load and a moderate stride before launching his hands on an uphill path through the zone. Shows some raw strength in bat with flashes of pull-side pop during BP. Made consistent hard contact, recording an 87 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran an 8.06 60-yard dash. The first baseman displays an adequate glove and footwork to field with extended reach around the bag. Made 81 mph throws from a long ¾ arm slot with accuracy

Chase Beattie 3B / SS / Holt, MO / 2022

A solid 5-foot-10, 205-pound frame with present strength and athleticism. The right-handed hitter sets up in a wide, balanced stance using a small toe-tap and hand load to start his swing. Solid swing plane through the zone with a gap-to-gap approach. Made consistent hard contact with lift to all fields and feel for the barrel. Creates above average bat speed and generates a 91 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash. The infielder showcases above average actions. Repeatable, confident footwork with soft hands and quick transfers making accurate 83 mph throws across the diamond from a short high-¾ arm slot. Follow in the 2022 class.

Ryan Borberg SS / RHP / Shawnee Mission Northwest, KS / 2022


Displays a projectable 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame with present strength and athleticism. The right-handed hitter sets up in a wide, even stance with active hands. Uses a leg kick load and short stride to start swing, creating a level to slightly uphill path through the zone. Hard line-drive contact to his mid/pull side, registering above average bat speed and a 90 mph bat-exit velocity. In the infield, above average defender with clean footwork/exchanges and a solid glove, staying low to field. Made accurate 88 mph throws from a high-¾ arm slot with solid carry.

Brecken Bowers 2B / C / Liberty North, MO / 2022

Displays a lean, developing 5-foot-8, 130-pound frame with room to add strength as he matures. The right-handed hitter sets up in a narrow, open stance with rhythm in his hands. Uses a slow, controlled leg lift and small coil to load. Short, flat bat path through the zone, with line-drives and fly-balls to all fields during BP. Recorded a 72 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.80 60-yard dash. In the infield, shows a clean glove and footwork to field with average exchanges. Made accurate 70 mph throws across the diamond from a developing high-¾ arm slot.

Mason Breidenbach SS / 3B / Marquette, MO / 2022

A projectable 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame with present strength and athleticism. The left-handed hitter sets up in a balanced, open stance with rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate leg kick and hands load to generate a level bat path through the zone. Shows an advanced approach at the plate with solid feel for the barrel and middle/away approach. Made consistent line-drive contact with above average bat speed, registering an 93 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash. In the infield, showcases above average fielding actions with confident footwork and a clean glove. Gets good momentum behind throws with good direction towards first. Throws from a fluid, quick high-¾ arm slot, producing 85 mph throws with carry and accuracy. Follow in 2022 class.

Blake Davis 3B / RHP / Lee's Summit North, MO / 2022

Proportional 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame with present strength. The right-handed hitter sets up in a tall, narrow stance with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a small toe-tap and hand load into a medium stride to start his swing. Level bat path through the zone, creating line-drives and fly-balls during BP. Displays some hand quickness, registering an 83 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.82 60-yard dash. In the infield, uses short, choppy footwork to field with good hands and glove to field. Quicker exchanges, throwing from a short-¾ sling at 75 mph. 

Jonathan Davis 2B / SS / Olathe West, KS / 2022

Compact 5-foot-8, 160-pound frame with present athleticism. The right-handed hitter starts in a slightly open, balanced stance. Uses a small leg kick load and in-line stride to generate a slight uphill bat path through the zone. Aggressive swing with some hard line-drives during BP and a gap-to-gap approach. Recorded an 89mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.14 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder showcases quick footwork and a good glove to field, with developing exchanges. Made accurate 75 mph throws across the infield from a high-¾ arm slot. 

Avery Dunn SS / C / Lee Summit , MO / 2022

A lean 5-foot-9, 152-pound frame with some present athleticism. The right-handed hitter sets up in a balanced, upright stance with quiet hands. Uses a quick leg lift load and stride into a level swing plane. Short to contact with consistent line-drives to the middle of the field. Recorded a 76 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.81 60-yard dash. The primary infielder shows good footwork, getting around and through the ball to field. Soft glove that funnels into his body with clean exchanges. Accurate 72 mph throws across the infield from a long high-¾ arm stroke.

Jacob Frost 1B / LHP / Oakville , MO / 2021

Strong, physical 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame with present athleticism. The left-handed hitter sets up in a tall, open stance with rhythm in his hands. Uses a knee-knock and hand load into a short stride to start his swing. Solid uphill swing plane through the zone with strong lower half, producing a gap-to-gap approach with power. Made consistent loud contact with above average bat speed, producing a bat-exit velocity of 93 mph. Ran a 7.33 60-yard dash. The first baseman shows fluid, athletic footwork around the bag with good hands to field. Made accurate 85 mph throws from a long, loose high-¾ arm slot across the infield with carry. Continues to remain one of the top uncommitted 2021’s in the Missouri class.

Eli Guffey 3B / 1B / Summit Christian, MO / 2022

Solid 6-foot-0, 185-pound frame. The right-handed hitter starts in an open, wide stance with a high handset. Uses a hand load down a leg kick into a slight uphill swing plane through the zone, looking to elevate the ball. Mid/pull approach with line-drives and fly-balls during BP, making consistent contact. Recorded an 82 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.79 60-yard dash. In the infield, displays average hands and footwork to field with some lateral range. Made 75 mph throws across the diamond from a short high-¾ arm action with some accuracy.

Taylor Hopkins SS / RHP / Jefferson City Jays, MO / 2021

Showcases an athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame. The right-handed hitter sets up in a tall, balanced stance with a high handset, using a small leg lift load to initiate his swing. Has a level bat path through the zone producing line-drives and fly-balls to all fields with consistent solid contact. Recorded an 83 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran an above average 6.84 60-yard dash. In the field, displays quick footwork, working around the ball to field. Has soft hands that can adjust to bad hops and clean exchanges. Made 83 mph throws across the diamond from a short high-¾ arm slot.

Ben Kirkland 2B / Marysville, KS / 2021

Displays a lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 145-pound frame with room to fill out. The right-handed hitter starts in a tall, narrow stance with his bat resting on his shoulder. Uses a big leg kick and hand load down to initiate a level bat path through the zone. Showed consistent line-drive contact to the middle of the field, registering a 78 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.45 60-yard dash. The primary second baseman shows adequate footwork with lateral range when fielding. Has sure hands, making short quick throws at 70 mph from a high-¾ arm slot with accuracy. 

Keaton Latlip 2B / SS / Blue Springs South, MO / 2021

Lean, athletic 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame with room to add strength. The right-handed hitter sets up in a wide, balanced stance and a high handset. Slow, controlled knee-to-knee load into an explosive uphill swing. Made loud contact to the gaps with some pull-side pop and consistent line-drives to the middle of the field. Flashes bat speed and hand quickness, registering an 88 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.09 60-yard dash. In the infield, displays sure hands with quick transfers and releases. Works around the ball to field and funnels into his body. Made 83 mph throws from a long high-¾ arm slot with accuracy.

Austin Mann 1B / OF / Liberty North, MO / 2021

Strong, proportional 6-foot, 205-pound build. The right-handed hitter sets up in a tall, balanced setup with a controlled body load and quick, aggressive swing. Slight uphill path, looks to elevate the ball with gap to gap power. Above average bat speed and fast hands, recording a 97 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash. At first base, displays sure hands and average footwork with feel around the bag. 79 mph throws from a long ¾ arm action.

Levi Martin OF / RHP / Olathe South, KS / 2022

Physical 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame with present strength and athleticism. The right-handed hitter sets up in a wide, balanced stance with a small leg-lift load and short stride. Level path through the zone with some feel for the barrel. Short to contact with line-drives to all fields during BP. Recorded an 86 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.46 60-yard dash. In the outfield, fields ball out front with sure hands making 78 mph throws with accuracy. In the infield, works around the ball to field with adequate footwork and some glove stiffness. Made 77 mph throws from a short high-¾ arm slot. 

Landon McGinness 2B / 1B / Liberty North, MO / 2022

Lean, athletic 6-foot, 180-pound frame with room to add size and strength. The left-handed hitter sets up in a tall, open stance with active hands pre-pitch. Uses a quick stride and hand load into a short, level bat path showing some bat speed. Spray contact to all fields with consistent line-drives during BP. 84 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.67 60-yard dash. In the infield, starts low with good footwork around the ball to field. Sure hands, funneling the ball into his body and making quick, accurate throws from a short high-¾ arm action.

Andrew Miller OF / LHP / Blue Valley West , KS / 2022

Lean 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame with present athleticism and room to add strength. The left-handed hitter starts in a balanced, athletic stance with some rhythm in his hands. Usually a quick stride into a level bat path through the zone, landing closed at contact. Shows feel for the barrel, spraying line-drives to all fields during BP. Top of the order-type hitter who gets on base. 83 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash. In the outfield, has short choppy footwork with an average glove to field. Made 79 mph throws from a long ¾ arm action with accuracy.

Tate Moody SS / 3B / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2022

Projectable, athletic 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame with present tools. The right-handed hitter sets up in a balanced, crouched stance with a toe-tap load and short stride. Showcases above average bat speed with gap-to-gap power. Made loud contact with hard line-drives and fly balls, registering a 90 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.09 60-yard dash. In the infield, displays athletic fielding actions with sure hands and solid footwork. Gets good momentum behind throws at 82 mph from a quick high-¾ arm slot with carry and accuracy. One of the top uncommitted prospects in the Kansas 2022 class.

Joshua Newell SS / RHP / St. Charles West , MO / 2022

Athletic, projectable 6-foot-2, 173-pound frame with room to add size and additional strength. The right-handed hitter sets up in a balanced, slightly open stance with active hands. Quick toe-tap load into a level line-drive swing with consistent hard contact to all fields. 82 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash. In the infield, displays confident fielding actions with a clean glove and quick exchanges. Made strong 86 mph throws from a short high-¾ arm action with solid carry and accuracy.

Frank Palma C / 2B / Liberty North, MO / 2022

Lean, athletic 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame with room to add strength. Right-handed hitter sets up in a tall, balanced stance with a toe-tap load and short stride. Level bat path through the zone with some feel for the barrel. Sprayed line-drives to all fields with an 80 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.45 60-yard dash. Behind the plate, shows soft hands when receiving with average blocking ability. Quick footwork and exchanges on 70 mph throws down to second base from a short high-¾ arm action. Pop times ranged from 2.00-2.19 seconds. In the infield, works around to field, funneling the ball into his body. Some glove stiffness. 74 mph throws across the diamond with average accuracy.

Aidan Polter SS / 2B / Seaman , KS / 2022

Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame with room to add strength. The right-handed hitter starts in a tall, narrow stance with a knee-knock and small hand load. Level bat path through the zone with some hand quickness. Consistent line-drive contact to the middle of the field. 82 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder displays sure hands with lateral range. Works around the ball, occasionally sitting back to field. Made 78 mph throws across the diamond from a short low-¾ arm action with accuracy.

Jordan Rosenberg 2B / SS / Blue Valley North, KS / 2022

Displays a lean, developing 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame with room to add strength. The right-handed hitter sets up in an even, wide base and some rhythm in his hands. Uses a quick leg lift load and short stride into a level bat path through the zone. Gets good extension through his swing, making some loud contact during BP with line-drives and fly balls to the middle of the field. 83 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.48 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder works around the ball with short, choppy footwork. Sure hands to field with some range to forehand and backhand. Made 69 mph throws from a long high-¾ arm action with accuracy.

Justus Rowlett RHP / 2B / Baldwin City , KS / 2022

Lean 5-foot-11, 140-pound build with room to add strength. The right-handed hitter starts in a tall, balanced stance using a full-body load and quick leg kick into a flat bat path through the zone. Short to contact with ine-drives and base hit contact to the middle of the field during BP. Registered a 75 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.71 60-yard dash. In the infield, showcases a clean glove and developing footwork. Made accurate 73 mph throws from a quick ¾ arm action.

Riley Slusher 1B / 3B / Dexter , MO / 2021

Proportional, athletic 6-foot-1, 180-pound build. The right-handed hitter starts in a tall, slightly open stance with a hand load down and short stride into swing. Flat bat path through zone, finishing low. Line-drives to mid/pull side. Quick hands with an 86 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran an 8.17 60-yard dash. In the infield, the corner infielder shows average hands and footwork to field with some range around the bag, making 68 mph throws from a short high-¾ arm action.

Daxen Steinbacher 2B / RHP / Olathe South, KS / 2022

Athletic 6-foot, 165-pound frame. The right-handed hitter sets up in a slight open, balanced stance with some rhythm in his hands. Hand load and short stride into a quick, level bat path. Hard line-drives to all fields with feel for the barrel. Shows some hand speed, 83 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.19 60-yard dash. In the infield, displays clean footwork and glove to field, making 76 mph throws from a long high-¾ arm action with some accuracy.

Calvin Urish OF / RHP / Free State, KS / 2022

The right-handed hitter sets up in a balanced stance using a full body load and short stride into a slight uphill swing path. Athletic, projectable 6-foot, 180-pound frame. Central Missouri commit. The left-handed hitter sets up in a balanced, even stance with rhythm in his hands and leg kick load. Slight arm bar with flat bat path through the zone. Loud contact, looks to elevate with gap-to-gap approach and above average bat speed. 90 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash. The middle infielder showcases above average hands with quick footwork and clean exchanges, making accurate 81 mph throws from a quick ¾ arm slot.

Matthew Will SS / RHP / Lee's Summit North, MO / 2022

Compact 5-foot-4, 148-pound frame with present athleticism. The right-handed hitter starts in a tall, balanced stance with quiet hands. Toe-tap load and short stride into an uphill swing path through the zone. Consistent line-drive contact to the middle of the field. 74 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.88 60-yard dash. In the infield, active footwork with clean two-hand gather, making 75 mph throws from a short high-¾ arm action.

Ryan Williams 3B / OF / Liberty , MO / 2021

Well-proportioned 6-foot, 185-pound frame with present athleticism. The right-handed hitter starts in a balanced stance with a leg kick and hand load back. Uses lower half well.  Solid line-drive to contact to mid/pull side with flashes of pull side pop. 83 mph bat-exit velocity. Hit a triple and home run in the game. Ran a 7.39 60-yard dash. In the infield, shows sure hands to field with quick exchanges, making 83 mph throws across the diamond. In the outfield, displays athletic actions with good footwork and clean glove to field. Made 84 mph throw from a long high-¾ arm action with accuracy and carry.
