Top Prospect - MOKAN: Outfielder Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Missouri/Kansas held the Top Prospect Games - MOKAN August 11 at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.  Over 30 players from the region attended in the 2020 and 2021 class.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Here is a closer look at the outfielders from the event, listed in alphabetical order.

Outfielders

Jacob Ciafullo OF / SS / Raytown , MO / 2020

Ciafullo is a 5-foot-10 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.88 60 and a 4.57 home to first.  He had an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, slightly open, some pre pitch and rhythm, short to contact, gap to gap line drives during hitting evals.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, works behind the ball, quick transfer, plays through the ball, throws are accurate, 87 mph positional velocity.

Brandon Kelley OF / RHP / Baxter Springs, KS / 2021

Kelly is a 5-foot-10 188-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.84 60 and a 5.02 home to first. He had an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, pre pitch rhythm in lower half, short and compact with barrel awareness, gap to gap line drives, loose hands with level path.  In the outfield, quick to the ball with footwork, high three quarters arm slot, gains ground with footwork after the catch, positional velocity at 77 mph.

Josh Kellogg OF / RHP / Desoto, KS / 2021

Kellogg is a 6-foot-1 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.30 60 and a 4.87 home to first.  He had a 79 mph exit velocity. At the plate, wide set up, load into back side with weight shift, toe tap with short in line stride, level path with gap to gap line drives during hitting evals.  In the outfield, over the top arm slot, creates momentum with footwork after the transfer, mostly accurate throws, 79 mph positional velocity.

Ethan Light OF / Pittsburg, KS / 2021

Light is a 6-foot 145-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 6.95 60 and a 4.44 home to first.  He had a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall set up, loads with weight shift against back side, slightly open with stride, middle of the field line drives, slightly high finish.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, works through the catch with momentum in footwork, clean transfer and throw, 74 mph positional velocity.

Joseph Lopez C / OF / Bishop Miege, KS / 2021

Lopez is a 6-foot 170-pound left-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.33 60 and a 4.84 home to first.  He has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and slightly open set up, minimal movement in hands with quiet load, lands slightly closed with stride, some lift to bat path, mostly middle of the field line drives during hitting evals. In the outfield, active footwork to the ball, set up ready to throw working behind the ball, clean transfer and throw, high three quarters arm slot, 75 mph positional velocity.

Grant Miller OF / RHP / Nevada, MO / 2020

Miller is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.02 60 and a had an 83 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, tall set up, sinks into legs to load, some and load with in line stride, loose hands, quick bat, mostly pull to middle of the field line drives.  In the outfield, gains ground with footwork after the catch, clean transfer, high three quarters arms slot, mostly accurate throws, 80 mph positional velocity.

Gage Norman OF / RHP / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2020

Norman is a 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.52 60 and a 5.00 home to first.  He had an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall set up, smooth load to back side, minimal hand movement, level path with a slightly high finish, middle to pull side contact, repeats swing.  In the outfield, high three quarters arms lot, loose arm action, arm works, clean transfer and throw with momentum through the catch, mostly accurate throws, 84 mph positional velocity.

Seth Roggenkamp OF / LHP / DeSmet Jesuit, MO / 2020

Roggenkamp is a 6-foot-1 190-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.10 60 and a 5.00 home to first. At the plate, starts loaded on back side, controlled leg lift before stride, accelerates hands, level path, gap to gap approach, stays under control.  In the outfield, over the top arm slot, gains ground after the catch, smooth transfer on time with footwork, 83 mph positional velocity.

Chase Wilm OF / RHP / Spring Hill , KS / 2021

Wilm is a 6-foot-3 178-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and a 5.03 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open with tall stance, toe tap with in line stride, some pre pitch movement in hands, attacks the ball, aggressive swing, flashes pull side power with gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, creates momentum to throw after the transfer, clean exchange, top velo from outfield at 72 mph.
