Top Prospect Games - MOKAN: 2019 Pitchers

Prep Baseball Report - Missouri/Kansas held the Top Prospect Games - MOKAN at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg on August 12.  Over sixty players attended in the 2020-2019 class. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard. Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the 2019 Pitchers from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

2019 Pitchers

Ray Bailey OF / LHP / Kickapoo , MO / 2019

Bailey is an athletically built 6-foot-2 175-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. On the mound, Bailey’s delivery has some rhythm to it, deceptive with glove side, over the top release point, accelerates down the mound, long and clean arm action. Fastball was 71-73 mph, some arm side run, showed command of his arm side part of the plate, changeup is 66 mph, slight arm side run


Alex Bass RHP / RHP / Webb City, MO / 2019

Bass is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class out of Webb City, MO. Bass’ delivery is fluid, smooth and athletic delivery, he hides the ball well behind his body, loose arm action, three quarter arm slot, good body control, quicker tempo, showed the ability to throw two quality pitches for strikes in game action. Fastball is 82-84 mph, arm side run, thrown for strikes, induced ground balls in game action. Curveball is 73-75 mph, 11-to-5 type shape, sharp bite at times. Bass’ large build, athletic frame and repeatable delivery make him a prospect to keep tabs on.

Ethan Farrow LHP / 1B / Park Hill South, MO / 2019

Farrow is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class out of Parkhill South HS in Parkville, MO. Farrow’s delivery is fluid and smooth, athletic movements, works with good tempo, hides the ball well, clean arm action, works from a high three quarter release point, commands three pitches for strikes. Farrow’s fastball is 70-72 mph while topping out at 74 mph, arm side run, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, induced weak contact during game action. Curveball is 63-66 mph, gradual action, 1-to-7 type shape, changeup is 67-68 mph, near fastball arm speed, arm side run and depth, potential to be plus pitch for Farrow when he throws it aggressively

Dakota Jackson RHP / OF / Gardner Edgerton , KS / 2019

 

Jackson is a long and lean 6-foot-3 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2019 class. On the mound, Jackson has a simple compact delivery, arms and legs coming at the hitter, regular effort, high three quarter arm slot, good direction towards target, kept hitters on balance during game action with a cutter and curveball combo. Fastball is 74-76 mph, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, cut action, showed command of glove side, curveball has gradual action, 11-to-5 shape, 59-62 mph, changeup shows some cut action, 67-68 mph.

Alexander Khan RHP / 1B / Truman , MO / 2019

Khan has a large, thick and projectible frame at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds. Khan is a member of Missouri’s 2019 class out of Truman HS. Khan has an athletic delivery, deceptive, some effort, rhythm throughout, quick and loose arm action, high three quarter arm slot, works downhill, uses an overhead pump in the windup. Fastball is a 80-83 mph, armside run, thrown to both sides of the plate. Curveball showed gradual action, 11-to-5 shape, 66-70 mph. Khan’s big frame, athleticism and loose arm action make him a prospect to keep an eye on in the future.

Brenner Maloney LHP / OF / Liberty North , MO / 2019

Maloney has a strong and athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds out of Missouri’s 2019 class. Maloney works aggressively down the mound, deceptive delivery with an across the body stride and high glove side action, max effort, over the top arm slot, long clean arm action, threw two quality pitches for strikes in game action. Fastball is heavy 83-86 mph, armside run, has a chance to be a plus pitch, thrown for strikes to both sides of the plate, curveball is 72-74 mph, 12-to-6 type shape, sharp bite, fastball armspeed.

Joey Mace RHP / OF / Warsaw , MO / 2019

Mace has a slender yet athletic frame at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds. Mace is a 2019 graduate in the State of Missouri from Warsaw HS. Mace has rhythm in his delivery, slightly across body with his stride, regular effort, high three quarter arm slot, uses a glove tap at leg lift, accelerates down the mound, explosive lower half. Fastball was thrown for strikes, turns it over for armside run, 77-80 mph, curveball has 11-to-5 shape, fastball armspeed, 65-66 mph, changeup is 70-72 mph, fading action, thrown for strikes. Additionally, Mace throws a slider between 63-66 mph.

Jacob Poletis RHP / OF / Rockhurst, MO / 2019

Poletis has a strong frame and athletic build at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. Poletis’ delivery shows some rhythm, slightly opened stride, aggressive lower half, accelerates down the mound, direction towards target, shorter arm action, high three quarter arm slot, works downhill. Fastball jumps out of his hand, sat 83-84 mph while topping at 85, thrown aggressively to both sides of the plate, will turn it over for arm side life, curveball is 65-67, gradual action, 11-to-5 shape, changeup was 67-69 mph, near fastball armspeed, sinking action.

Dalton Riechers 3B / RHP / Platte County , MO / 2019

Riechers is a strong 5-foot-10 178-pound right handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. On the infield, 81 mph positional velocity, short over the top arm slot, smooth footwork with clean exchange, made all plays cleanly, some accuracy on throws.  On the mound, Riechers has simple and compact delivery, good direction towards target, clean arm action, over the top arm slot. Fastball showed late cut action, occasional sink, sat 79-81 mph while topping out at 81, curveball had late action, 11-to-5 shape, chance to be a plus pitch, 64-68 mph, changeup is 74-75 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Parker Weddle SS / RHP / Oak Park, MO / 2019

Weddle is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2019 class. On the mound, Weddle pitches with tempo, shows rhythm in his delivery, some deception, long clean arm action, high three quarter arm slot, fastball sat between 76-78 mph while topping out at 80 mph, thrown to both sides of the plate, arm side run, induced ground balls in game action, curveball is 71-74 mph, thrown for strikes, 11-to-5 shape, late bite at times

Tanner Twillman RHP / 3B / Olathe East, KS / 2019

 Twillman is a 6-foot 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class. On the mound, Twillman has a deceptive delivery, works down the mound with tempo and rhythm, good direction towards home plate, some effort, high three quarter arm slot, fastball is thrown for a high percentage of strikes, arm side run and some sink, can turn it over with more run, 72-72 mph, knuckle curve showed some depth and changes planes, 11-to-5 shape, 61-64 mph.  

 

Jake Zenger RHP / Lawrence Free State, KS / 2019

8/12/18 - Zenger is a 6-foot-1 180-pound right-handed pitcher.  Zenger comes from a low three-quarters arm slot, kept hitters off balance with a two pitch mix, fastball has late arm side run a 75-78 mph, breaking ball has 10-to-4 action, 63-66 mph, throw both pitches out the same release point, athletically built, works from both sides of rubber, creates direction slightly toward right handed hitter, direction and release point creates deception in delivery, repeats well, shows command of both pitches.
