Missouri Underclass Games: Pitchers Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Missouri held the Missouri Underclass Games on June 11 at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.  Over 65 players from the region attended in the 2022 and 2021 class.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Here is a closer look at the infielders from the event, listed in alphabetical order.


Pitchers

Connor Boldt OF / RHP / Ladue , MO / 2021

Boldt is a long and lean 6-foot, 160-pound, left-handed hitting outfield prospect and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. On the mound, delivery is smooth, repeats, works downhill, loose arm action with a three-quarter release, controlled leg lift, accelerates down the mound, athletic finish. Fastball is 74-77 mph, some cutting action, thrown for strikes, curveball is 63-67 mph, gradual action, near fastball arm speed, changeup is 65-66 mph.

Wyatt Clark RHP / 1B / Blue Springs South , MO / 2021

Clark is a long and lean 6-foot-5, 220-pound, left-handed hitting corner infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class.On the mound, Clark establishes a presence with his large frame and bigger build, compact delivery, controlled leg lift, accelerates down the mound with some effort, high three-quarter release. Fastball sits 77-81 mph, occasional arm side run, thrown for strikes at the bottom of the zone, kept hitters off balance during game action, curveball is 66-67 mph, 11-to-5 shape, gradual action.

Harrison Day SS / RHP / Liberty, MO / 2021

Day is an athletic 6-foot-1, 170-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder and right-handed pitcher out of Liberty HS.On the mound, works with some rhythm, controlled leg lift, gains momentum down the mound, high three-quarter release, across the body with his stride, hides the ball well. Fastball at the event was 80-81 mph, arm side run, around the zone, slider was thrown aggressively, 68-73 mph, 10-to-4 shape, mostly gradual action, did show some late bite when located down in the zone.

Alex Esker LHP / CBC, MO / 2021

Esker has a lean build and is a projectable 6-foot-3, 180-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. Esker has a compact delivery, high leg lift, delivery has some rhythm to it, slight cross fire with stride and higher glove side to add further deception, works downhill with some effort, loose arm action, three-quarter release. Fastball sits 80-82 mph, tops at 83 mph, arm side run, thrown for a strikes, showed good feel for his changeup, 70-71 mph, arm side run, near fastball arm speed, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, split finger is 69-70 mph, some fading action, curveball is 70-71 mph, mostly gradual action.

Garrett Ferguson RHP / OF / Summit Christian Academy, MO / 2022

Ferguson has an athletic build and projectable frame at 6-foot, 165 pounds. He is a right-handed hitting outfield prospect and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2022 class.On the mound, Ferguson has a controlled delivery, gains momentum as he works down the mound, rhythm with arms and legs, mixes tempo as he utilizes a quick pitch in game action, loose high three-quarter arm action. Fastball is 79-82 mph, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, sinking action, changeup is 67-68 mph, thrown for strikes, fading action, near fastball arm speed, curveball is 64-65 mph, thrown for strikes, 11-to-5 shape, sharp at times.

Joey Funk OF / LHP / Vianney, MO / 2022

Funk has a lean frame and athletic build at 6-foot, 155 pounds with room to grow. He is a left-handed hitting outfielder and left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class out of Vianney HS. On the mound, works primarily from the stretch, controlled delivery, downhill, hides the ball, deceptive for left-handed hitters, clean arm action, three-quarter release, repeats delivery. Fastball is 69-70 mph, some arm side run, around the zone, changeup is 62-63 mph, some cut action, curveball is 62-65 mph, 2-to-8 shape, sharp at times, mostly gradual action.

Adam Gray RHP / 3B / Lees Summit North, MO / 2021

Gray is a lean 6-foot-5, 200-pound, right-handed hitting corner infielder and right-handed pitcher out of Lee’s Summit North HS. On the mound, projectable frame with long levers, compact delivery, stays over the rubber, smaller and controlled leg lift, downhill tilt, loose arm action, hides the ball well behind body, gains momentum down the mound, prospect to keep tabs on as he develops.

John Michael Gyllenborg RHP / OF / Rockhurst, MO / 2021

Gyllenborg has a large frame and has an athletic build at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds. He is a right-handed hitting outfield prospect and right-handed pitcher out of Rockhurst HS in Kansas City, MO. On the mound, long limbs and projectable frame, athletic delivery, fluid movements, repeats with some effort, loose arm action, three-quarter release. Fastball is 79-83 mph at the event, some arm side run, around the zone, curveball is 69-72 mph at the event, 11-to-5 shape, late action, thrown for strikes.

Matthew Haley RHP / SS / Rockwood Summit , MO / 2021

Haley has a solid build at 5-foot-11, 174 pounds. He is a right-handed hitting middle infield prospect and right-handed pitcher out of Rockwood Summit HS. On the mound, Haley has an athletic and controlled delivery, picks up momentum as he works down the mound, loose arm action from a three-quarter slot, kept hitters off balance with effective command of his fastball and curveball, easy and repeatable delivery. Fastball sat 81-83 mph at the event with life, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, curveball is 68-72 mph, late movement with 11-to-5 shape, good feel for the pitch, changeup is 72-76 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Gregory Hamilton OF / RHP / CBC, MO / 2021

Hamilton has a projectable frame and long limbs at 6-foot, 158 pounds. He is a right-handed hitting out-field prospect and right-handed pitcher out of CBC HS in St. Louis, MO. On the mound, Hamilton’s frame shows room to grow, controlled delivery, direction towards target, some rhythm, repeats with some effort, long arm action, three-quarter release. Fastball sat 67-71 mph, slight arm side run, curveball shows potential, 55-58 mph, late downward action at times, near fastball arm speed, 11-to-5 shape.

Kenny Hoover OF / RHP / Park Hill South, MO / 2021

Hoover is a 5-foot-10, 145-pound right-handed hitting outfield prospect and right-handed pitcher out of Park Hill South HS. On the mound, compact delivery, controlled leg lift, in line stride, direction towards target, hides the ball behind well, accelerates down the mound, high three-quarter release. Fastball is 67-71 mph at the event, around the zone, changeup is 62-64 mph, some depth, near fastball arm speed, knuckle ball is 63-64 mph, thrown for strikes.

Ryan Karl RHP / 3B / Lafayette , MO / 2021

Karl is a 6-foot, 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class out of Cuba HS. Karl works at a quicker tempo, accelerates as he works down the mound with some effort, controlled leg lift, in line stride, direction towards target, hides the ball well, creates downhill tilt with delivery, quick loose arm action, three-quarter release, athletic finish, showed an effective mix of fastball and curveball during game action that created quiet a few swings and misses. Fastball is 81-84 mph, arm side run, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, curveball is 65-67 mph, downward action with 11-to-5 shape, showed feel for the pitch, changeup is 74-75 mph, occasional fading action.

Kevin Korte OF / SS / DeSmet, MO / 2021

Korte is a well built 6-foot-1, 180-pound, right-handed hitting infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. On the mound, Korte has a bigger frame with some projectability, easy arm action, some rhythm to delivery, slightly across body with stride, gains momentum down the mound. At the event, fastball was 74-77 mph, occasional arm side run, curveball was 60-63 mph, thrown for strikes, mostly gradual action, 11-to-5 shape, changeup was 69 mph, some fading action.

Mason Luna SS / OF / Dora, MO / 2021

Luna is an athletic 5-foot-11, 155-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. On the mound, Luna’s delivery has some rhythm, repeats with downhill tilt, hides the ball well, shorter arm action, high three-quarter release, effectively kept hitters off balance during game action with a three pitch mix thrown for a high percentage of strikes. Fastball was 77-78 mph, occasional arm side run, curveball is 67-69 mph, late downward action with a 11-to-5 shape, changeup is 65-66 mph, near fastball arm speed, arm side run, strikes at the bottom of the zone.

Jackson Mitchell RHP / OF / Francis Howell North, MO / 2021

Mitchell is a long and slender framed 6-foot-3, 187-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. On the mound, Mitchell has a frame with room for growth, arms and legs coming at the hitter, accelerates down the mound, long loose arm action, high three-quarter slot, repeats with some effort. Fastball sits 80-81 mph, tops at 83 mph, some sink, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, slider is 70-71 mph, gradual action, 10-to-4 shape, thrown for strikes.

Jack Mosh SS / RHP / St. Pius X, MO / 2022

Mosh is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound, left-handed hitting middle infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2022 class. On the mound, Mosh has an athletic delivery, explosive lower half, hides the ball well, quick arm, high three-quarter release, gains momentum down the mound, generates downhill tilt with delivery, showed an effective mix of fastball and curveball during game action. Fastball is 77-80 mph, arm side run, curveball is 68-70 mph, late downward action, near fastball arm speed, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, changeup is 68-69 mph.

Sam Myers RHP / OF / St. Charles , MO / 2021

Myers is a well built and solid 6-foot-1, 195-pound, right-handed pitcher from Missouri’s 2021 class. He has a smooth delivery with some rhythm, works at a quicker tempo with some effort, loose arm action from a three-quarter release point, repeats delivery, directional towards home plate, accelerates down the mound with downhill tilt. Fastball sits 80-83 mph, tops at 84 mph, arm side run, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, changeup is 70-71 mph, fading action, thrown with near fastball arm speed, curveball was thrown between 64-67 mph, 11-to-5 shape with some late downward action, Myer’s mixes in a slider with more sweeping action, 10-to-4 shape

Gavin Nally OF / RHP / Logan-Rogersville, MO / 2021

Nally is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.28 second 60 and 4.37 home-to-first. On the mound, Nally has a compact delivery, controlled leg lift, in line stride, accelerates down the mound with some effort, uses a high glove side for added deception, high three-quarter release. Fastball is 74-76 mph, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, locates down in the zone, changeup is 63-67 mph, shows a good feel, thrown for strikes with some sink, curveball is 59-64 mph, gradual action, 11-to-5 shape.

Johnny Pascuzzi RHP / 1B / Rockhurst, MO / 2021

Pascuzzi is a 6-foot-4, 195-pound, right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class out of Rockhurst HS. Pascuzzi has a large build, long limbs and projectable frame with room to fill out as he develops. Simple and easy delivery, higher but controlled leg lift, smooth actions with delivery, gains momentum as he moves down the mound, slight across the body stride, clean arm action, three-quarter release. Fastball is 78-81 mph, thrown for strikes with some arm side run, curveball is 70-72 mph, 11-to-5 shape, mostly gradual action with sharp bite at times.

Nate Pokorney SS / RHP / Timberland, MO / 2022

Pokorney is a 5-foot-8, 140-pound, right-handed hitting middle infielder and right handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2022 class. On the mound, Pokorney has a high three quarters arm slot, controlled delivery with loose arm action, works inline down the mound, throws with regular effort, fastball worked 76-79 mph, slight sinking action, breaking ball at 68-70 mph, 12-to-6 action, change up at 68-72 mph, slight arm side run, throws with fastball arm speed.

Victor Quinn OF / RHP / Liberty, MO / 2021

Quinn is an athletic and physical 6-foot-1, 190-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher from Missouri’s 2021 class. On the mound, works primarily from the stretch, athletic delivery, controlled leg lift, accelerates down the mound with an aggressive lower half, easy arm action, high three-quarter release, ball jumps from hand. Fastball sits 84-87 mph, tops at 88 mph, thrown around the zone, heavy, occasional cut, curveball is 71-74 mph, 11-to-5 shape, late downward action at times.

Tyler Stine C / RHP / Hickman, MO / 2022

Stine is an athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound, right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2022 class. On the mound, Stine shows an easy delivery with some rhythm, controlled leg lift, accelerates down the mound, downhill, athletic finish, loose arm action from a high three-quarter release. Fastball is 79-80 mph with life, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, curveball shows the ability to be a plus pitch, 12-to-6 shape, sharp at times, near fastball arm speed, 64-68 mph.

Jack Weber RHP / 3B / Chaminade , MO / 2021

Weber is a long and lean 6-foot-4, 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. Weber has long levers and a projectable frame. Weber has a simple delivery, collects weight over the rubber, controlled leg lift, gains momentum down the mound, long loose arm action, over the top release, creates downhill tilt, effectively changed speeds during game action to keep hitters off balance. Fastball 79-83 mph at the event, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, located at the bottom of the zone, occasional arm side run, curveball is 68-73 mph, 12-to-6 shape, mostly gradual action, changeup is 72-75 mph, fading action with some sink, near fastball arm speed.
