Prep Baseball Report Missouri/Kansas held the Mac N Seitz Scout Day Scout Day on February 23 at the Mac Seitz Baseball Facility in Kansas City, Missouri. Nearly seventy five players participated in the 2022 to 2018 classes.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a 
ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on ScoutPlus.

Here is a closer look at the catchers from the event, listed in alphabetical order.

Catchers

Steven Azzaro C / OF / St James Academy, KS / 2021

Azzaro is a 6-foot-1 170 pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas' 2021 class.  He ran a 4.39 home to first and has a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load to back side, reverse toe tap, level path with middle of the field approach.  Behind the plate, 2.17 to 2.40 pop times, 70 mph positional velocity, mostly accurate throws with carry to the bag, over the top release, clean exchange on time with fluid footwork. 

Ethan Baranczuk C / Mill Valley, KS / 2020

Baranczuk is a 6-foot-1 150-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas' 2020 class.  He ran a 4.50 home to first and had a 74 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, some pre-pitch rhythm in hands, controlled and short stride, loose hands level through the zone, middle to pull side contact during hitting evals.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.09 and 2.15-seconds, 68 mph positional velocity, wide base in set up, quick transfer with high exchange, quick footwork, mostly accurate throws with carry to the bag. 

Isaiah Beck C / RHP / Shawnee Mission North, KS / 2022

Beck is a 5-foot-11 right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas' 2022 class.  He ran a 4.94 home to first and has a 72 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall set up, slightly open, some hand load with weight shift, short in line stride, loose hands, stays balanced, gap to gap approach.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.41 and 2.50, 68 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, clean exchange with fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Jeffery Butler C / 1B / Blue Springs , MO / 2022

Butler is a 6-foot-2 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2022 class.  He ran a 4.34 home to first and has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, quick tempo, high leg kick, slightly closed stride, level path with mostly pull to side contact.  Behind the plate, 2.21 to 2.26 pop times, 68 mph positional velocity, over the top release, quick transfer and throws, throws are mostly accurate, fluid actions.

Zach Dillman C / RHP / Lee's Summit West, MO / 2020

Dillman is a strong 6-foot-1 190-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  He ran a 4.18 home to first and has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with a wide base, open stance, loads with weight shift to back side, slight rotation in hips, level bat path, middle to pull side contact, showing pull side power.  Behind the plate, 84 mph positional velocity, pop times between 1.91 and 2.06 seconds, over the top release, throws with carry at times, clean transfer on time with quick and aggressive footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Parker Griffith C / 3B / Lee's Summit West, MO / 2022

Griffith is a sturdy 5-foot-9 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2022 class.  He ran a 4.71 home to first and has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, controlled leg lift, accelerates with hands, quick bat speed, level path, middle to pull side approach.  Behind the plate, high three quarters release, clean transfer, quick feet, 2.07 to 2.40 pop times, 70 mph positional velocity, wide base in set up, mostly accurate throws, some with carry to the bag.

Nick Lightcap C / 1B / Mill Valley, KS / 2021

Lightcap is a 5-foot-9 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas' 2021 class.  He ran a 5.09 home to first and has a 71 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance with pre-pitch rhythm in hands, in line stride, no wasted movement in hands, level path, gap to gap line drives.  Behind the plate, 2.28 to 2.51 pop times, 67 mph positional velocity, over the top release, quick transfer, fluid footwork, throws are on line to the bag.

Carsen Malan C / 2B / Blue Valley West, KS / 2021

Malan is a 5-foot-7 135-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas' 2021 class.  He ran a 4.50 home to first and has a 76 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balances stance, short in line stride, stays balanced, smooth acceleration with loose hands, showed feel for the barrel, gap to gap approach, quick bat speed.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.00 and 2.09-seconds, 73 mph positional velocity, quick transfer and throw, accurate throws with carry, footwork on time with transfer, athletic actions.

Kaleb Mitchell C / 3B / Lee's Summit West, MO / 2020

Mitchell is a well built 6-foot 190-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  He ran 4.60 home to first and has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance with smooth load in lower half, no wasted hand movement, controlled leg lift, in line stride, loose hands, quick bat speed, gap to gap line drives, repeatable swing mechanics.  Behind the plate, 2.24 to 2.41 pop times, sits low and staggered, over the top release, fluid actions with feet and exchange, mostly accurate throws, some with carry to the bag.

Jack Pearson C / OF / Blue Valley West, KS / 2022

Pearson is a 6-foot 150-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas' 2022 class.  He ran a 4.33 home to first and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, minimal load with no wasted movement, in line stride, simple and repeatable swing mechanics, level path with loose hands, stays under control.  Behind the plate, 2.19 t0 2.43-second pop times, 66 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, short jab step on time with exchange, fluid action, mostly accurate throws.

JD Van Horn C / 3B / Ottawa, KS / 2020

Van Horn is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas' 2020 class.  He ran a 4.57 home to first and has a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, loads with weight shift against back side, minimal hand movement, loose and free hands, generates bat whip, gap to gap line drives.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.09 and 2.33-seconds, 70 mph positional velocity, mostly accurate throws on line with the bag, clean exchange on time with fluid footwork, over the top release, staggered set up to receive. 

Morgan Wilkins C / SS / Lee's Summit North, MO / 2022

Wilkins is a 5-foot-7 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri's 2022 class.  He ran a 4.88 home to first and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the the plate, slightly open stance, minimal load to back side, efficient load, loose hands, feel for the barrel, gap to gap line drives, stays in lower half, hits with leverage.  Behind the plate, 2.01 to 2.08 pop times, 72 mph positional velocity, wide base in set up, short over the top release, accurate thrower, some with carry to the bag, quick transfer and throw.
