Updated and Expanded 2016 Rankings

By Mike Penn
Michigan Director of Scouting

The Class of 2016 has been set abuzz recently with several high profile commitments rolling in recently.  No. 1 Karl Kauffmann (Brother Rice HS)  and No. 4 Dion Henderson (Divine Child HS) both making commitments to Michigan and Kentucky respectively.

Not to long before their commitments however, Michael Mokma (Holland Christian HS) became the first player to commit from the Class of 2016, ultimately choosing Michigan State as his destination.

Although the top 10 didn't shakeup much and remained largly intact several new names have been added to the Class of 2016 rankings.  Caleb Scoles (Gull Lake HS) joins high school teammate Drew Blakely in the rankings hopping in at No. 14.  The 6-foot-1, 190-pound righty has a quick clean arm action and a downer breaking ball.  Although he sits primarily between 82-84mph currently, Scoles looks to be a developing power arm.

Malcolm Harris (Henry Ford Academy) showed flashes of athleticism and high upside.  Although his stock is based mainly on projection, Harris has a good foundation. Harris sits 77-81mph with his fastball but has a quick arm action and quick twitch movements.

The same can be said for outfielder Cameron Milne (Dexter HS). The 6-foot-1, 160-pound outfielder has a smooth easy left-handed stroke and a long lanky projectable frame to work with. Milne has all the tools needed to be an attractive prospect.
