Palo earn #2 seed with win over Centennial
May 2, 2019
LAS VEGAS, NV – One of the last Mountain Region regulars season games of significance took place with Centennial visiting Palo Verde. The contest implications could provide as much as a two-spot difference in seeding. Palo Verde on Senior Day sent, ’19 Bryce Robison (RHP) to the mound, while Centennial countered with ’21 Jonathan Merino (RHP). Robison’s complete game shutout proved too much for the Bulldogs, but that is not to slight the effort of the young Merino. After surrendering two in the first, Merino competed admirably before giving way to LHP ’19 Weston Ewing, scattering 6 hits, while striking out 7 in 4.2 inning of work. The veteran, Robison allowed 4 hits, struck out seven and walked just one. Offensively, the Panthers were led by ’20 Paul Myro IV and ’20 Paul Shawn Pasqualatto who each had two hits and an RBI.
The Palo Verde win earned them the #2 seed while Centennial fell to the #4 seed, losing the head to head battle with Las Vegas at #3. In spite of a bit of a roller coaster ride for the Panthers, the PBR Nevada preseason #1 has plenty of fire power to make another run at the State Championship.
