Sophomore Winter Standouts

Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

The spring season is getting underway so winter events are wrapping up. Our state directors take a look at some sophomores that have stood out recently.

Jackson Baumeister, C/RHP, Bolles School, FL
At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Baumeister wasn’t just one of the more physically impressive underclassmen at the Preseason All-State Showcase, but he was also one of the most talented. A true two-way player committed to Florida State, he stands out behind the plate where he is athletic and comfortable with flexibility and a good set-up despite his large frame. The transfer is clean and his arm is strong. The feet work and his pop times range from 1.94-2.11 seconds. Offensively, he uses his large frame efficiently with a simple swing, driving balls from gap to gap. He has bat-to-ball skills and power. On the mound, he uses his strong lower half well with an efficient delivery, above average curveball and fastball up to 91.
