WEEK 4 (APRIL 22 - APRIL 28, 2019)

Will Carlone OF / RHP / St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute , NY / 2019

34th ranked player in the state of New York for the class of 2019. Large 6-foot-2 frame, thickly build through the midsection and thighs. Moves well for his size. Was playing 1B in this game. Made one very nice catch on a line drive, showing off good reactions. At the plate, starts with a balanced and athletic stance. Small leg lift stride as weight shifts forward in swing; above average bat speed. Really battled and competed against a tough pitcher in all three at bats, including hard line out to RF. VCU commit.

Gabe Hayek RHP / 1B / St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute , NY / 2020

Large and sturdy framed pitcher at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds. Square setup and slowly goes through delivery. Sinks hips as his front leg lifts and drives towards the plate. Good hand extension towards the plate through delivery. Lands slightly closed and throws around front foot, creating a natural cutting action to his fastball that sat 76-78 for six full innings. Also featured a 11-5 breaking ball in the 64-65 MPH range; allowed 4 hits through six innings and picking up 5 strikeouts.

Benjamin Beauchamp C / OF / McQuaid Jesuit, NY / 2019

Athletic and talented backstop who checks in as the 44th ranked player in the New York class of 2019 rankings. Receives really well with soft, confident hands behind the plate. Only had a couple chances to block but handled them with ease. Had one attempted steal against him, with a perfect on the money throw at 2.21 seconds. Hit out of the leadoff spot, showing his versatility and athleticism. Was on base all three times with a line drive single to center and two hit by pitches. Ran the bases very well. Will be a very good college player. Albany commit.

Noah Campanelli SS / 2B / McQuaid Jesuit, NY / 2019

Wiry strong athlete who moves very well on the field. Very good footwork moving to the ball and fields with confidence. Handled all chances including a tough backhand play deep in the hole where he showed off an above average arm. All parts of his game were on display offensively. First at bat pulled his hands inside the ball and hit to the right side, advancing a runner from second to third. Second at bat was a long home run to left field followed up by beating out an infield hit with 4.47 speed from home to first. 22nd ranked player in the New York class of 2019 is a Saint John Fisher commit.

Tyler Griggs 3B / 2B / McQuaid Jesuit, NY / 2019

Compactly built athlete at 5’9” and 185 pounds. Strong through forearms and wrists. Hits from a simple setup and small stride. Bat explodes through the zone with an uphill path. Drove two balls to the OF to pick up sac fly RBIs. Only had one defensive chance during game action, but showed off confident hands and a good arm in pregame work. Ranked number 16 in the New York class of 2019 rankings, the UConn commit has a very high offensive ceiling.

Drew Bailey OF / RHP / McQuaid Jesuit, NY / 2019

Long, lean build. Good frame with lots of room to fill out with size and strength. Moves well with athleticism. Limited game action in the OF; showed off a strong arm in pregame action. Standard setup at the plate with hands staring up by his head. Uses a medium leg kick to trigger his swing. Swing was very rotational, causing to slightly pull off of the bal; runs the bases well. Mercyhurst commit.

Hunter Walsh RHP / OF / McQuaid Jesuit, NY / 2019

The 141st ranked player in the New York 2019 rankings, Walsh is a very athletic, compactly built pitcher. Loose and easily delivery that he repeats. Arm works quickly. Fastball sat 82-84 throughout all 7 innings, with life through the zone. Used a 12-6 curveball at 66-68 MPH very effectively. Showed good feel for a changeup in warmups but was not a pitch that was needed in game action. Racked up 12 strikeouts while only allowing one hit and one walk. Pounded the zone throughout the game. Walsh is committed to St. John Fisher for baseball and football as a quarterback.

Derek Livingston RHP / SS / Paul D. Schreiber, NY / 2020

6-foot-1, 185 pounds has more room to grow with his frame. 81-85 mph with his FB; Plus control to both side of the plate. Above average control with his 11-5 curve, which had some late bite; definite out pitch. Upper and lower half remain in sync with extension to the plate. Developing Change up with some fade.

Charlie Cucchiara RHP / 3B / East Meadow , NY / 2019

5-foot-11 185 pound, medium frame with a lean build that can hold more. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple drops and drive towards the plate; throws slightly across his body. Fastball has some downhill action through the zone, topping out at 85 MPH, but consistently 82-84 deep into the game. Dominated the inner half with his FB. A plus 10-4 slurve, that’s a real put away pitch for him. Used change up as more of a show pitch.

Bryce Reimer LHP / 1B / Sullivan West , NY / 2020

Full frame build; repeats delivery with clean arm path that works through a standard to occasionally low 3/4 slot. FB Sat 84-85 MPH early in the game; has life and rides through the zone. Sharp 2-to-8 curveball; at times with above average depth. Racked up 12 K's through 6+ innings.

Jacob Yager 1B / RHP / Tri-Valley, NY / 2021

6-foot-2 frame with boxed off shoulders that could develop into a big time power pitcher's build. Fastball work 82-83, touching 84 MPH early in the game from a high 3/4 slot. Showed a short slider in the low 70's that had some late tilt to it. Attacks the zone. At the plate their is some above average bat speed; battled in some tough AB's vs. Reimer (Sullivan West).

Matthew Mariano RHP / SS / Shenendehowa, NY / 2021

5-foot-9 with a strong lower half.  FB ranged from 82-83 MPH. Made his varsity debut as a sophomore and got the win in relief against a solid Columbia HS squad.  Struck out 6 of the 12 batters he faced in 3.1 IP. More in the tank for this rising RHP in the class of 2021.

Robert Erno RHP / 3B / Columbia , NY / 2021

6-foot-0, 200 pound infielder showed a strong, accurate arm.  Bats in the middle of the order and had several quality at bats.  3 hits in 6 at bats prior to facing Shenendehowa. Walked twice and hit two balls hard in four plate appearances.  Hit 2 HR’s including a walk-off game winner versus Colonie.

Christopher Martin OF / Colonie , NY / 2020

6-foot-0, stands tall in the box, feet even. Hands are quick to the zone. Barrel stays level through the zone.  Was 3 for 4 with a double and RBI against Columbia. Tracks the ball well in the outfield and has a strong, accurate arm.

Max Luke 1B / RHP / Croton Harmon, NY / 2020

Another strong outing for the 2020 RHP/1B with four shutout innings against Somers on 2 hits with 8 strikeouts. The FB sitting 85 MPH and spotted in all quadrants of the zone, and setting up a filthy curveball commanded for get-me-over strikes early in the count, but was able to bury in the dirt for chases as well. CB ranges 67-71 MPH. Flashed a glove side change at 73 MPH.

Jason Green RHP / 1B / Lakeland, NY / 2020

At 6-foot-3 235 pounds, the uncommitted Green is an imposing presence on the bump.  He has an easy high ¾ arm slot, working at 80-82 MPH topping at 83 MPH with a straight FB. His breaking ball is sufficient at 69-70 MPH, when right it is a sharp 10 to 4 breaker. He maintained velocity into the 3rd inning and settled in at 79-80 from the 4th inning on in the complete game shutout over Somers.  There is a lot more in the tank especially if he develops a more explosive bottom half.

Nicholas Badillo C / 3B / Lakeland , NY / 2022

Thick projectable backstop with serious pop was at the DH spot today vs Somers. Sets up wide with a leg kick and with some natural lift. Crushed a ball to the gap for a double and legged out an IF single. Huge upside on this Jr Futures Gamer, but I would like to see a bit more of a line drive approach as he has the hands to do serious damage, and hit for a high average.  Badillo is very green behind the plate, but with experience should become a very good catcher. Has a cannon and is very athletic. Big eyeballs on this Freshman.

Evan Berta LHP / OF / Lakeland, NY / 2020

The Fairfield commit followed up his Player of the Day performance on the bump Tuesday with another solid do it all performance vs Somers.  Berta was 2-3 at the plate with 3 RBI, and another clutch scud missile over the Right Centerfield wall to put a dagger in the heart of the Somers players.  He also made a nice diving catch out in CF, laying out to pick it off the grass. This is a very solid two way player who is, simply put, a gamer.

Avery Cook 1B / RHP / Whitesboro , NY / 2019

6-foot- 245 pounds with a well built frame. Cook was impressive in the start against rival New Hartford. The right handed pitcher displayed good command of a FB ranging from 86-88 MPH most of the game and topping out at 92 MPH. Mixed in a sweeping 71-74 MPH CB for a putout pitch. Cook also had a big hit during the game. At the plate, Cook is a strong hit that shows plus power potential. St. John's commit.

Roman Kimball RHP / SS / New Hartford, NY / 2021

A 5-foot-10 athletic frame. The right handed pitcher comes right after you. Competed for the whole game. Sat 83-85 MPH most of the game and topped 86 MPH in the 1st and 2nd inning. CB 72- 74 MPH was sharp and was a go to pitch later in the game. Notre Dame commit.

Holden Lazarus OF / Ithaca, NY / 2020

A 6-foot-0 physical athletic frame. At the plate, hit a leadoff first pitch of the game HR opposite field. Lazarus didn't get much to hit after his first at bat. On the mound, Holden comes right after you with good command of a FB 82-84 MPH, topping 85 MPH. Mixed in a 70-73 CB for a strike that kept Horseheads off balanced all game. Michigan commit.

Andrew Alise 3B / C / Ithaca, NY / 2020

A 5-foot-11 physical frame. Shows major power potential at the plate. On the mound, worked out of the bullpen and put together a good performance. Throwing mostly FB’s, Alise displayed a 81-84 MPH FB, topping out at 85 MPH. FB has late life and works down in the zone.

Jason Savacool RHP / OF / Baldwinsville, NY / 2020

6-foot-1 projectable frame. The right handed pitcher sat 90-92 for most of the game. Didn’t throw a FB below 90 for three innings. Top FB was 94 on the day (4 times) and flashed a plus SL which topped at 83 MPH. Savacool also mixed a two-seamer from a mid ¾ arm slot at 89 MPH with some sink later in the game.

Chris AuClair LHP / 1B / Baldwinsville, NY / 2021

Strong 6-foot-3 projectable frame. The left handed pitcher worked out of the bullpen and got out of a jam. Showed a FB 78-81 MPH with late life and a sweeping SL 67-70 MPH. Worked ahead early in the count and pounded SL’s down in the zone. Tons of upside for the 2021 pitcher.

2020 RHP Jackson Pena (Newtown)
Athletic lean frame. 5’10” 170 lb. Short & quick arm action. Starts/mixes up an abbreviated windup, with a very quick rhythm. High leg kick with some internal hip rotation prior to extension. Very short stride which hurts his command. Out of the stretch, a little too slow to home. Legs and arms not fully in sync. Rushes through mechanics which make it tough for a consistent release point. Developing slider that he’s gets on the side of, tries to overthrow it. Tends to pull off front side on his FB. And a change up that he doesn’t quite have control of yet, but shows promise as a pitch that can either run or fade.

2019 RHP Injah Jung (Newtown)
3 pitch mix. Repeatable mechanics. Great timing with his lower and upper half. 79-81 mph FB, with an above average curve in the low 70s. Mixes in an average changeup, with some run to it. Changes the eye level with his FB well. Hides the ball in his delivery well.

2019 1B Elbis Nunez (Newtown)
6-2 220 pounds; big, large frame. Physically strong; power to all fields. Stays back on the off-speed with an advanced approach.. Easy power and goes with the pitch well. Average defensively, and deceptively quick on the basepaths.

2019 3B Jalel China  (Harry Van Arsdale)
Athletic build in the 5-foot-9 range; the RHH hitting 3B showed some glove side range with a clean exchange and suitable arm from the left side. Balanced setup at the plate with some bat speed.

2019 C Edward Gutierrez (Harry Van Arsdale)
Compact, average build for the RHH catcher; showed accurate arm in the 2.20 range; steady reciever who wraps up the outer half pitch to right-handed hitters. Only got to see one AB but has a balanced approach and short swing path hitting in the middle of the order.

RHP Jackson Kossow RHP (Somers)
Went 4.2 innings of 1 hit, shutout ball with 8 Ks in win over Croton Harmon.  Featured a downhill FB at 78-79 MPH and a CB at 63-65 MPH with varied command. Kossow is a lanky, athletic build with a mid ¾ delivery and a high setup over his back shoulde.  Plenty of life on his FB that plays better than the velocity indicates. Was every bit as strong on his 96th pitch as he was on his 1st pitch.

2019 Logan Carriero RHP/3B (Somers)
Big body righty, Carriero kept the Tuskers in the game through 5 Innings until Lakeland broke it open in the 6th inning.  Early on his FB was sitting 80-81 topping out at 82 MPH with late life. Hard breaker at 68-69 MPH and a max effort grunt on the end of every offering.  He hit a wall in the 5th inning which Lakeland took advantage of as his velo dropped to 77-78 MPH and the heater straightened out. Battled hard against a good hitting team with a ton of experience.  This is a very mature kid with more in the tank.
