It was a historic preseason here in New York with our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff covering 700+ players at showcase events, all February long. The dust has settled and we are now ramping up our efforts in player rankings, scouting reports, and recap articles. Scouting Report

 

Physical: 5-foot-6, 145-pounds. Compact, athletic frame; 4.32 home-to-1B.
Offensively: LHH. Tall, relaxed stance with a slight bend in the knees, bat rests on back shoulder, hands work back on load along with a very small stride for timing Generates loft with an uphill swing plane, hands get to and through the hitting zone quickly, strong, two-handed finish. Hard contact to all fields, pull-side power potential. 88 MPH raw exit velocity.
Defensively: Small, choppy steps on approach, fields the ball well outside his glove foot, uses a crow hop to get rid of the ball quickly. Short arm swing with a 3/4 slot; OF - 85 MPH.
Pitching: Works with a steady pace; leg lift above the waist, sits in back leg while glove arm reaches across keeping shoulder closed on stride out before accelerating through a repeatable release and balanced follow through. Hand comes back out of the glove to a neutral slot before getting to a clean 3/4 release.
FB: T83, 82-83 MPH. Arm side run with life through the zone.
CB: 66-69 MPH. Sharp 1-7 break.
SL: 66-66 MPH. Tight slurve action.
CH: 67-68 MPH. Maintains arm speed with late fade.

 

Standout Skill
What Sausville showed on the mound was impressive to watch. His standout skill is his pitching. With great tempo, same arm slot, deceiving hitters, and able to throw strikes is fun to watch. Hopefully I get to see him in a game-like situation because he looks like he will flat out compete on the mound. 
Player Projection
I think Sausville shines out on the mound more than anything. LHP with low 80s fastball with more room to get stronger and clean up mechanics. His ability to spin his off-speed pitches and hide them, making them deceiving to the hitter, is great to watch. Late break to the curveball and works both sides of the plate with all pitches. He's only going to get better with the right development.

Quick Hit
"Short and athletic build to him, but can play. Long bat path with a big coil of his entire upper body. Pop is there to pull side gap because of the usage of his lower half. His quick hands help him get the barrel through the zone. Charges the ball and runs through it, fielding it off glove side foot with low line drive throw to his target. Excels off the mound filling up the strike some with a four pitch mix. Controlled pace with room to develop more velo and spin."
