Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma hosted the second annual OK Preseason All-State Showcase this past Sunday at the World Baseball Outreach indoor facility in Tulsa, OK. This invite only event featured 90 of the top players from every class in Oklahoma. Each player participated in a pro style showcase to show their skills and record measurables in front of multiple colleges along with the PBR staff.

This was easily the most talent packed event in PBR OK history with 16 players posting 90+ exit velo, 16 players that were 85+ on the mound, 10 sub 7.00 60s, 9 catchers under 2.0, a 90 across the INF, and a 100 from the OF. 

In the coming weeks, PBR OK will write an in-depth scouting report on each player at the event grouped by position and age. Today, we look at the corner infielders from the 2021 and 2020 class'. Though many of them are talented two-way players, they will be cover here only as position plays with pitching analysis found here.

2020 & 2021 Corner Infielders 

Doyle Gehring 3B / RHP / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2020 A proportional 6-foot, 170-pound frame with some room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an upright and open with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate hanging leg kick before dropping into his back side and launching his hands on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a flat and middle of the field approach with leverage and some pop, mostly barrels, 84 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.42. Defensively, shows well above average feet and hands that could become advanced in the near future. Arm strength is advanced with above average accuracy and shows the ability to throw from multiple slots, 84 mph.

Carson Hunt RHP / 3B / Dale, OK / 2021 A physically advanced 6-foot, 190-pound frame with some strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a slightly wide and back leg heavy stance with rhythm in his hands. Uses as short stride before launching his hands with advanced bat speed on a slightly uphill path to contact with good extension. In BP, shows a middle of the field approach with occasional lift and pop, barreling some balls early and really hitting a rhythm late in the round, 88 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.33 60. Defensively, shows above average hands, feet get planted a bit early at times, arm strength across the diamond is advanced for his age and shows high-end accuracy, putting every throw on the first baseman, 80 mph.

Morgan Lunceford RHP / 3B / Shawnee , OK / 2021 A 5-foot-10, 163-pound lean frame with some room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a slightly open stance with some rhythm throughout. Uses a slight knee-knock leg kick before launching his hands on an efficient path to the ball with a high finish. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with some lift and some bat speed, mostly barrels, 82 mph exit velo. Runs a  7.73. Defensively, shows active feet with average hands, some accuracy with advanced arm strength for his age, 80 mph across the diamond.

Josh McNeil RHP / 3B / Minco, OK / 2020 A lean 6-foot, 160-pound frame with room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a quiet, wide, open, and slightly knock-kneed set-up. Uses a big and smooth load before rotating on his back side before pulling his hands through an uphill path with a high finish, bat gets in and out of the zone quickly. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with some lift, found mostly barrels, 80 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.64 60. Defensively, shows deliberate feet with above average hands, throws from multiple arms slots with ease, some arm strength, and some accuracy, 80 mph.

Cooper McMurray 1B / LHP / Bishop Kelley , OK / 2020 A durable 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame with strength.Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a open and upright stance with rhythm in his hands. Uses a short stride and arm bar load before launching his hands on an uphill path with strength and bat speed, hitting up against a firm front side. In BP, shows consistent lift and pop to all fields, some barrels, 88 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.71 60. Defensively, shows some athletic actions around the bag with a very accurate arm, 76 mph.

Brody Rexroad 3B / RHP / Mustang, OK / 2021 A proportional 5-foot-11, 183-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open and athletic set-up with rhythm in his low-set hands. Uses a coiling load with a moderate stride before pulling his hand on an uphill path with some bat speed. In BP, shows a gap-to-gap approach with consistent lift, mostly barrels, 84 mph exit velo. Runs an 8.25 60. Defensively, shows slightly above average feet and hands, throws from a low ¾ slot with excellent accuracy, 75 mph across the diamond.

Will Taylor LHP / 1B / Kingfisher, OK / 2021 A long and projectable 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame with some wiry strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from an open, slightly knock-kneed, and back leg heavy set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a big knee-knock leg kick before he pulls his hands through a smooth uphill path with some bat speed and leverage. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field approach with consistent lift, mostly barrels, 85 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.54 60. Defensively, shows quick and athletic actions around the bag, fields the ball deep at times, accurate arm to second base, 78 mph.

Gray Thomas RHP / 3B / Casady, OK / 2021 An advanced 6-foot-2, 175-pound lean frame with plenty of room to continue to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an even and athletic set-up with rhythm throughout. Uses a big knee-knock leg kick with a slight hand pump load before launching his hands on a slight uphill path. In BP, shows an all fields, flat approach, mostly barrels, 79 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.84 60. Defensively, shows quicker feet than expected out of a lanky athlete of his age to go with average hands. Throws from a low ¾ slot with arm strength with developing accuracy, 79 mph.
