Positional Profile: LHP/1B

Body: Athletic 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame.

Hit: LHH. Tall, athletic setup with active hands. Short stride into a quick, level swing through the zone. Middle approach with line-drives and fly-balls, multiple barrels in round. Front foot finish.

Power: 83 mph exit velocity from the tee and 85 in BP. 

Arm: LH. INF - 83 mph. Long, loose arm action from a high-¾ slot.

Defense: At first base, sure hands and quick feet. Moves around the bag well, can pick balls in the dirt.

Run: 7.29 runner in the 60.


Delivery: Tall-and-fall delivery with a feel tempo. Repeatable medium balance point, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish.

Arm Action: LH. Long, loose arm action from an over-the-top slot with some shoulder tilt.

FB: 78-80 mph, some arm-side run in the zone.

CB: 63-65 mph, big 1/7 curveball with flashes of depth.

CH: 68-70 mph, slight fade action.

Will Taylor: LHP/1B, (2021) Kingfisher, OK. 6-foot-2, 175-pound lean frame. Begins in an athletic stance with a compact load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed is above average, uses short swing plane and high finish. He found some barrels through his rounds. Up the middle approach. Average in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 75 mph; has a packing exchange, sure hands and average feet. Used a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. Recorded a 60 time of 7.29 at the event. Showed a loose arm action and an over-the-top arm angle with good arm speed. Feel type pitcher and uses some effort. Low balance point. Lands open with a clean finish. showed around the zone command with straight movement. Fastball sits 79-81 with ride through the zone. Throws a 1/7 curveball with rolling action at 66-67.

10/27/19

A 6-foot-2, 175-pound lean and projectable frame with present wiry strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from an average tempo delivery that he repeats well with a moderate leg kick before finishing balanced.  Arm action is short in the back, dropping straight down out of the break before coming through an over the stop slot with some arm speed. Fastball ranges 76-79 with consistent arm-side run and strikes. More velo to come on the mound based on his outfield velo. Curveball shows above average spin with consistent depth for strikes at 63-64 mph. Splitter is still developing at 64-65 mph. In the game, Taylor punched out two of the four batters he faced and did not allow a hit. 

10/27/19

The primary left-handed pitcher featured a lean 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with projectability. The left-handed hitter begins with a backside-weighted, slightly open stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated barrel whip while hitting into a stiff front side creating a slightly uphill bat-path through the zone. Found the barrel consistently with feel for the pull side gap recording a bat-exit velocity from the tee of 89 mph during batting practice. Registered a 7.41 60-yard dash. The outfielder showcased active feet that played through the baseball and arrived on time with regularity which yielded accurate 85 mph throws out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. The first baseman showed solid footwork with advanced feel around the bag during defensive evaluations. A strong lower-half allowed for accurate 81 mph arm-strength across the diamond.

A  6-foot-1, 175-pound frame with some wiry strength and lots of room to add more. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly up tempo delivery with rhythm and moderate leg kick before striding down the mound with excellent leg drive and finishing balanced. Arm action has moderate length in the back with a quick change of direction at the bottom of his arm stroke before coming through a near over the top slot with arm speed. Fastball keeps its plane at 79-81 mph with some life, almost all strikes. Curveball shows 1/7 shape with consistent depth and thrown for consistent strikes at 66-67 mph. Changeup is thrown with full arm speed at 72-73 mph and shows fade.

A 6-foot-1, 175-pound lean frame with some wiry strength and lots of room to add more . Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a back leg heavy, slightly knee-knocked, and open set-up. Uses a smooth knee-knock load before launching his hands on a flat path to contact with a high finish and big extension. In BP, shows an all field approach with occasional lift, best in the opposite field gap, almost all barrels, 85 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.34 60. Defensively, shows clean, confident, and athletic actions around the bag with advanced hands and feet. Throws with a long arm stroke coming through a high-¾ slot. Shows well above average accuracy with arm strength at 83 mph on double play turns. 

8-20-17
An advanced 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a narrow and upright stance with high-set hands. Uses a smooth and big knee-knock leg kick for timing, is short to the ball with loose and quick hands. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with occasional lift, some barrels, 85 mph exit velo. Runs a 4.64 home-to-first. Defensively, shows quick and confident actions around first base with accurate throws from a low-3/4 slot and a quick release, 59 mph. On the mound, works from a slightly up tempo delivery with athleticism and excellent leg drive down the mound. Arm circle is moderate with a wrist hook in the back, comes through a high-3/4 slot, easy, loose, and whippy.  Fastball sits 71-72 with consistent arm-side run. Slider shows 1/7 shape with some late depth 63-64 mph, developing true swing and miss pitch. In the game, Taylor was efficient, filling up the strike zone with both pitches and keeping hitters off balance.

A long 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. On the mound, works from an average tempo delivery with quality leg drive down the mound. Arm action is easy, loose, with a moderate stroke and a wrist hook in the back, comes through a high-3/4 slot.  Fastball sat 68-69 mph (a few slower than we have seen it before) with some sink. Slider shows 2/8 shape with some late depth 62-63 mph, developing true swing and miss pitch. Also shows a changeup with consistent sink.  In the game, Taylor filled up the zone with all three pitches, showing an impressive ability to pitch backwards as a young arm. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from an open and upright stances with some rhythm in his high-set hands. Uses a smooth knee-knock leg kick with a moderate stride, swing is smooth with leverage on a flat plane through extension. In BP, shows an all fields flat approach with some pop, found some barrels. Exit velo of 85 mph. Runs a 7.69 60. Defensively, shows clean, athletic, and smooth actions around the bag with above average hands, 64 mph top velo to second with accuracy. In the game, singled to right field.

A long, lean, and projectable 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame with long legs and lots of room to add size and strength. On the mound, works from a deliberate delivery before striding to the dish with some quickness and leg drive. Arm action is long and full in the back with a wrist hook before coming through a high-¾ slot, loose and whippy. Fastball shows occasional arm side run with well above average command, 75-78 mph. Curveball has a rolling shape, up out of the hand at times, around the zone, 64-67 mph. Changeup cuts as times, especially to the glove side 61-65 mph. Overall, Taylor's projectable frame paired with his long and loose arm make him a prospect for colleges to keep close tabs on.

5/30/18
A projectable 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame with wiry strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from an up-tempo delivery with a moderate leg lift, solid leg drive, and finish to the dish. Arm action gets behind him with a wrist hook and stays short and very quick through a high-¾ slot. Fastball sits 76-78 mph with consistent arm-side run. Curveball has rolling action with big depth and 1/7 shape at 65-66 mph. Changeup shows consistent fade, 70-71 mph. Gave up some loud contact in the game, but continued to throw strikes with all three pitches and competed at a high level.

In the game, drew a few free passes. 

9-9-18
A 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame with long limbs and plenty of room to add size and strength. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly up-tempo delivery with a moderate leg kick before striding down the mound with quality leg drive. Arm action is long in the back with a quick change of direction at the bottom of the arm stroke before coming through a near over the top slot with some  arm speed. Fastball keeps its plane at 75-79 mph, mostly strikes. Curveball has rolling action with 1/7 shape, commanded in the zone. Changeup has splitter type action at 73-74 and gets some swings and misses. In the game, Taylor retired all five batters he faced in order, striking out two.
