5/18/19

Air Force commit. A long 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame still with room to add size and strength. On the mound, the right-hander works from a slightly up  tempo delivery with rhythm that he repeats well before using an abbreviated and closed stride, finishing to the first base side . Arm action is short, fluid, and hidden in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot with arm speed. Fastball shows occasional arm-side run at 85-87 in the bottom of the zone, almost all strikes. Curveball sits 70-72 mph with with11/5 shape and some late depth, mostly strikes. Changeup shows consistent fade at 75-77 mph, mostly strikes.

5/18/19

Air Force commit. Top 20 player in 2020 class. 6-foot-2, 175-pound projectable frame, athleticism in the field with good instincts. Offensively, the right-handed hitter uses tall, open setup to start, slow tempo lift to load and stride. Small dive with front foot, swing works through closed front side. Strong hands, creates average bat speed through the baseball on uphill plane. Balanced, strong throughout swing. Short extension and finish, consistent line drives in BP, 86 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.40 60. Defensively, created good angles, glove works through the baseball fielding on left side of body, creates momentum. More foot speed needed to play up the middle, current corner. High ¾ arm slot, accuracy and carry across the diamond at 85mph.

2/4/18
A long 6-foot, 170-pound frame with some strength. On the mound, works from a slightly up-tempo delivery with a high leg kick and abbreviated stride. Arm action is short and fluid in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot with arm speed. Fastball ranges 82-85 mph with downhill tilt. Slider shows short and late cutter type action with some depth, thrown with full arm speed, 79-81 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape with slurve action, some late bite and depth, 67-68 mph. Changeup has some fade at 75-76 mph thrown with full arm speed. Shows an advanced feel for the zone with all four pitches. Overall, Gehring’s fast arm and feel for the zone makes him prospect of interest for high level schools.

A proportional 6-foot, 170-pound frame with some room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an upright and open with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate hanging leg kick before dropping into his back side and launching his hands on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a flat and middle of the field approach with leverage and some pop, mostly barrels, 84 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.42. Defensively, shows well above average feet and hands that could become advanced in the near future. Arm strength is advanced with above average accuracy and shows the ability to throw from multiple slots, 84 mph.

5/19/18
A 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame with long legs. On the mound, works from a slightly up-tempo delivery with rhythm that he repeats well. Arm action is short, fluid, and clean before coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 84-86 mph and touches 87, mostly strikes. Curveball has consistent 11/5 shape with some late depth, 68-70 mph. Changeup shows sink at 75-76 mph.

A long 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a very open and back leg heavy set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth and moderate stride before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path through extension and a rotational finish. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with pop and lift, mostly barrels, 84 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.3 second 60. Defensively, on the infield, shows above average hands and feet with good rhythm and plays through the ball well. Throws from a very short arm stoke from multiple slots with ease and some accuracy with arm strength at 84 mph across the diamond.

5/30/18
A long and projectable 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. On the mound, the right-hander works from a slightly up-tempo delivery with a moderate leg kick that he repeats well, finishing to the first base side. Arm action is short and fluid, coming through an over the top slot with arm speed. Fastball shows occasional cut at 83-86 mph, touching 87. Slider has some depth and 10/4 shape at 67-71 mph. In the game, it took him a few batters to find his rhythm, but once he did, he charged the zone with both pitches.

9-9-18
A long limbed 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with some room to add more strength. On the mound, the right-hander works from a simple and controlled delivery with rhythm with a high leg kick before taking an abbreviated stride down the mound and finishing to the first base side. Arm action is very short and fluid in the back before coming through a near over the top slot with quickness. Fastball keeps its plane at 84-86, a tick down from the 86-89 we saw at the Future Games, but not uncommon for this time of year. Commanded down in the zone to both sides of the plate, nearly all strikes. Changeup shows excellent deception with late fade, thrown with full arm speed at 75-76 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape with some late depth at 70-72 mph. In the game, faced eight batters, striking out seven, walking one, and not allowing a hit.
