OK Sandlot All-American Scout Day Upgrades: Corner Infield Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma teamed up with Sandlot All-American baseball for the second annual Scout Day Upgrade on May 19th-20th at Broken Arrow HS in Tulsa and Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond. Nearly 60 players from 2021-2018 class participated in the PBR upgrade. Each player participated in a pro style showcase to show their skills and record measurables in front the PBR staff.

Though many of the players covered below are talented two way players, they will be covered as corner infielders today with pitchers analysis already on profiles.

Ryan Adams 3B / 2B / Westmoore, OK / 2021

A 5-foot-8, 160-pound proportional frame. The switch hitter bats from a similar set-up on both sides with an open and athletic base with rhythm throughout. Uses a smooth rocking load before launching his hands on a very flat path from the right side, with a little more uphill on the left. In BP, shows a middle of the field and flat approach with occasional lift from the left with some barrels, and an opposite field approach from the right with a few barrels, 66 mph exit velo. Runs an 8.35 second 60. Defensively, on the infield, stays low to the ground with active feet and clean glove work. Throws from a moderate arm stroke coming through a 3/4 slot at 68 mph across the diamond.

Garret Baker 1B / RHP / Mustang, OK / 2021

A physically impressive 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a wide, open, and back leg heavy set-up with slight rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth load and moderate stride before launching his hands on a flat path through extension with some bat speed and strength. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field approach with some lift, mostly barrels, 80 mph exit velo. Runs an 8 second 60. Defensively, at first base, shows deliberate feet and hands when fielding with quick footwork towards second to complete the play. Throws with a long arm stroke coming through a 3/4 slot with arm strength, 79 mph across the diamond.

Austin Berg 3B / RHP / Broken Arrow , OK / 2020

A 5-foot-11, 165-pound lean frame with long legs. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an athletic, open, and balanced set-up with slight rhythm in his hands. Uses a short load and stride before launching his hands on a flat path to contact with a high and rotational finish. In BP, shows a middle of the field and flat approach, finding almost all barrels, some bat speed, 76 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.1 second 60. Defensively, on the infield, shows clean actions with well advanced hands and feet. Throws with a moderate arm stroke through a 3/4 slot with some accuracy, 70 mph across the diamond.

Luke Chabino RHP / 3B / Metro Christian Academy, OK / 2021

A 5-foot-10, 135-pound slender frame with lots of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a wide and slightly front foot heavy set-up with rhythm throughout. Uses a moderate leg kick and arm bar load before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path to extension with some length. In BP, shows a pull approach with lift, few barrels, 78 mph exit velo. Runs an 8 second 60. Defensively, on the infield, shows deliberate footwork with above average hands. Throws with a long and loose arm stroke coming through an over the top slot with some accuracy at 72 mph across the diamond.

Doyle Gehring 3B / RHP / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2020

A long 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a very open and back leg heavy set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth and moderate stride before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path through extension and a rotational finish. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with pop and lift, mostly barrels, 84 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.3 second 60. Defensively, on the infield, shows above average hands and feet with good rhythm and plays through the ball well. Throws from a very short arm stoke from multiple slots with ease and some accuracy with arm strength at 84 mph across the diamond.

Riley Lowry LHP / 1B / Mount Saint Mary, OK / 2019

A 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame with broad shoulders and strength throughout. Offensively the left-handed hitter bats from a quiet, open, and slightly back leg heavy set-up. Uses a small hand pump and reverse toe-tap load before launching his hands on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field and flat approach with mostly barrels, bat speed, and strength, 90 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.27 second 60. Defensively, at first base, shows clean and athletic actions all around well above average with arm strength, 83 mph across the diamond.

Ryan Lynn RHP / 1B / Broken Arrow, OK / 2020

A physically impressive 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a back leg heavy and even set-up with a slight crouch and rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate knee-knock leg kick and an arm-bar load before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path to contact and a high finish. In BP, shows a middle to pull approach with lift and much more pop than his 80 mph exit velo would suggest. Runs a 7.4 second 60. Defensively, at first base, shows clean and deliberate actions, throws with a short arm stroke through a low 3/4 slot with accuracy, 77 mph across the diamond.

Payne Maga LHP / 1B / Norman, OK / 2020

A 5-foot-11, 160-pound lean and developing frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a quiet, wide, open, and crouched set-up. Uses a short and controlled reverse toe-tap load before sending his hands on a flat path through extension with some length and barrel control. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field and flat approach, almost all barrels, 82 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.09 second 60. Defensively, at first base, shows athletic and quick actions with advanced hands and feet around the bag. Throws with a very short arm stroke and quick release from multiple slots with accuracy at 79 mph across the diamond.

Austin Mann 1B / RHP / Oktaha, OK / 2020

A 6-foot, 240-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a quiet, even, and back leg heavy set-up. Uses a slight leg lift and short stride before launching his hands on a flat path to contact with a high finish. In BP, shows a pull approach with pop, almost all barrels, 85 mph exit velo. Runs an 8.6 second 60. Defensively, at first base, shows clean and very deliberate actions. Throws from a short arm stroke coming through a low-3/4 slot, some accuracy at 73 mph across the diamond.

Masen McCurry 3B / RHP / Cleveland, OK / 2019

A 6-foot-2, 193-pound frame with some strength throughout. The right-handed hitter bats from an even, upright, and back leg heavy set-up with some rhythm in his high set hands. Uses a high leg kick before sending his hands on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a middle of the field, flat/ground ball approach, a few barrels, 78 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.28 second 60. Defensively, in the infield, shows controlled, deliberate, and clean actions. Throws with a long arm stroke coming through an over the top slot, 79 mph across the diamond.

Joshua Noah 1B / RHP / Red Oak, OK / 2021

A physically advanced 6-foot, 172-pound frame with a defined lower half. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a back leg heavy and open set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a small load and long stride before launching his hands on a flat path through extension with some bat speed and strength. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field and flat approach, mostly barrels, 79 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.37 second 60. Defensively, on the infield, shows above average actions all the way around. Throws from a short arm stroke coming through an over the top slot at 75 mph across the diamond.

Brody Rexroad 3B / RHP / Mustang, OK / 2021

A 5-foot-11, 183-pound frame with strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, upright, and relaxed set-up. Uses a long stride with a late heel plant before launching his hands on an uphill path through extension with some length and bat speed. In BP, shows an all fields approach with lift, almost all barrels, 86 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.63 second 60. Defensively, on the infield, shows advanced hands and feet with confident actions. Throws with a short arm stoke through a 3/4 slot with accuracy at 75 mph across the diamond.

Seth Stacey LHP / 1B / Tahlequah, OK / 2020

A 6-foot-1, 198-pound frame with broad shoulders and strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a relaxed, upright, and wide set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a slight knee-knock leg kick with an arm-bar load before launching his hands on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a middle to pull and mostly flat approach with some bat speed and strength, some barrels, 92 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.28 second 60. Defensively, shows deliberate actions. Throws with a moderate arm stroke through a high-3/4 slot with accuracy, 79 mph across the diamond.

Dylan Wilson LHP / 1B / Cascia Hall, OK / 2021

A 6-foot, 175-pound proportional frame. The left-handed hitter bats from a wide and back leg heavy set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a controlled reverse toe-tap before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path through extension. In BP, shows a pull gap approach with lift and some pop, mostly barrels, 76 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.82 second 60. Defensively, at first base, shows controlled, deliberate, and clean actions. Throws from a short arm stroke through a high-3/4 slot with some stiffness, 68 mph across the diamond with some accuracy.

A 6-foot-1, 205-pound frame with some strength throughout. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a narrow, upright, and quiet set-up. Uses a smooth knee-knock load and long stride with a slight arm-bar load before launching his hands on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field approach with consistent lift, bat speed and strength, and almost all barrels, 85 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.07 second 60. Defensively, at first base, shows clean and deliberate actions. Throws with a short arm stroke coming through an over the top slot with accuracy, 79 mph across the diamond.
