Danny LongA number of prospects had impressive performances on the first day of the 2015 PA Top Prospect Games, none more so than 2016 SS/RHP Danny Long (Pennridge). The 5-foot-11, 180-pound two-way prospect had an impressive round of batting practice and followed that up with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate in game action that included a single, triple and a towering home run to left field. Long scored three times and drove in two runs easily standing out as the top offensive performer of the day.

Not to be overshadowed, the righty also worked two dominant innings on the mound topping at 90 mph. Long registered four strikeouts while surrendering just two hits.

Following is a brief look at others that stood out on the the first day of the two day event.

+ 2016 MIF/OF Nico Popa (Seton-La Salle) had the coaches in attendance buzzing with his foot speed and raw athleticism. Popa took an impressive round of batting practice and went 2-for-3 in game action. The primary middle infielder recently ran a 6.45 60-yard dash and has shown the ability to convert his foot speed and athleticism to chasing down fly balls in the outfield.

+ 2017 OF James Gabor (Penn Charter) continued to show signs of his potential with a 2-for-3 day at the plate. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound left-handed hitter has very quick hands at the plate and runs a 6.63 60-yard dash.

+ 2016 OF Jack Larini (Abington) showed a solid right-handed swing with some power potential going 2-for-3 with a double and a triple.

+ 2016 OF/RHP Isaac Neal (Parkland) showcased a developing two-pitch arsenal on the hill that included a heavy fastball that topped at 86 mph and a late breaking curveball at 74 mph.
