6/17/15 5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitter. While it can be dangerous to evaluate results, especially from a small sample-size, it’s hard to find much fault with two-game totals of five hits (all of them scorched) in five at-bats with a triple and two monster home runs. Ball screams off his bat to the pullside and has good carry, despite often being hit with topspin. Runs hard out of the box and takes aggressive turns. Showcased 95-mph exit velocity and 86-mph arm strength during workout. Defensively he showed good feet and hands, while coming and getting ground balls well and incorporating his feet into his throw. Capability of handling shortstop will be determined by his range and ability to get rid of the ball without multiple shuffles.

6/17/15 Strong, medium frame (5-foot-11, 180-pounds). Pitched in attack mode out of high three-quarter slot with near max effort delivery. Fastball sat 87-89 and touched 90. More comfortable at the lower end of that range; came out of delivery early and ball tended to sail on him at the higher end. Good feel for curveball that varied from 11/5 to 12/6, but had depth at both shapes.
6/25/14 Long was not only the top middle infield prospect, but the top overall prospect in attendance. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound junior is likely to be a 3B at the next level, but flashed the athleticism and arm strength (83 mph) to man the shortstop position until his physical frame dictates a move. Long ran a 6.87 60-yard dash and flashed serious pop in his bat during batting practice from a square stance. Long gets to extension repeatedly and the ball jumps off his barrel as evidenced by his 90 mph bat exit velocity. Long rounded out his impressive two day performance by sitting 86-87 from a high 3/4 arm slot. His 11/5 breaking curveball showed tight rotation at 76 mph and Long attacked the strike zone early in the count.
5/5/14 Long is a physical right-handed hitter. He hits from a slightly open stance, with a good bat angle and launch point. Long smoked a no-doubt HR to left in final at-bat. He has the arm strength for 3B with some effort to throw, average actions. Posted a top home-to-1B time of 4.31. Pitched to three hitters in the seventh inning, working 84-86 with 74-75 CB out of high-3/4 slot.
1/20/14 Long showed well in all facets of the game and demonstrated signs of a big upside that make him the Top Prospect in this class at the event. He posting a 7.03 in the 60-yard dash, the tops at the event on a very slow surface. Long flashed some bat speed and quick twitch that indicates power potential (89 mph exit velo), even though his swing also has a bit of stiffness right now. In the field, the 5-foot-11, 180-pounder's actions and arm (80 mph) are solid, although he would benefit from fielding the ball further out front. On the mound, his 80-82 fastball has some arm side action, while he showed a decent feel for his changeup at 66 mph. He will need to tighten up his 65 mph, 11/5 breaking curveball.
