By Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

The summer rush of PBR events in Pennsylvania continued last week with the 2017 Western PA Top Prospect Games on July 18 and 19. 55 prospects from across the state gathered for two days of nine inning games and showcase activities at the Iron Horse Sports Complex in Windber, PA. Today we continue our analysis of the prospects in attendance by taking a look at those that participated as two-way prospects as a member of the Navy Team.

Navy Team (two-way prospects)

Jacob Beck, 2018, RHP/3B, Beaver Area HS (PA)
6-foot, 190-pound primary pitcher improved his stock with a very solid performance on the mound. He sat 83-86 on day one of the event in a one inning stint on the mound.  Works from an over-the-top arm slot with some natural cut to his fastball. Also displayed a curveball at 66-68 with 11/5 rotation. The right-handed hitter starts from a wide, square stance and initiates his swing from a high back elbow, vertical barrel position.  Drops back elbow in approach to the baseball creating some barrel drag but displayed an 85 mph bat exit velocity and went 3-for-6 with a double in game action.  Moves well around the bag at third base and showed good carry on throws across the diamond in game action with 81 mph arm strength.  Move well laterally as evidenced by his 7.14 60-yard dash time.

Dylan Kingan, 2018, RHP/1B, Eden Christian HS (PA)
6-foot-4, 185-pound primary pitcher displayed a four pitch mix from a 3/4 arm slot.  Registered four strikeouts and induces three ground balls changing speeds and keeping hitters off balance.  Fastball sat 76-78 with some arm-side run and changeup was thrown with good sell at 68-70.  Curveball showed 11/5 rotation at 65-66 while slider had shorter break at 70-72.  The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a heel-raise stride.  Registered an 80 mph bat exit velocity and reached base in three of six plate appearances during game action.  Moves well around the bag at first base with accurate 75 mph arm strength across the diamond. Ran a 7.58 60-yard dash.
