Class of 2024 Inside the Rankings: Diamonds in the Rough

Each week leading up to our Preseason slate, we'll be rolling out Inside the Rankings articles to further highlight the movement around the ‘24 classes in PA and NY. This week’s focus shifts the scope to “Diamonds in the Rough," prospects that will command a closer look in recruitment.

2024 SS/3B JAXON KEHOE (BONNER-PRENDERGAST)

The Spin: A 3rd Team All-Catholic selection as a Freshman for the Friars, Kehoe led the team with 11 SB, going the entire season without committing an error as the primary third baseman. No slouch offensively either, the right-handed hitter slashed .406 in league play and continues to show increased ability to turn the barrel, matching pitch-plane with whip through the zone. Recent improvements in the strength department propelled him to a big ‘21 summer on the tournament scene with multiple clutch, late-inning HR (Diamond Nation) while developing a consistent extra-base hit approach. A fluid mover with more than enough athleticism to handle SS, Kehoe will most likely slide over once '23 SS, Auburn commit, and MLB Draft hopeful Kevin McGonigle exits. With another strong offseason under his belt and true “gamer” qualities on the field, 2022 could be setting up perfectly for a breakout year.

The Performance: 4/8/21, Bonner Prendie vs. Archbishop Ryan | Recorded two hits in game action and impressed with a couple of extended counts, fighting off pitches and finishing 3/3 in QAB's.
