The Preseason Preview Showcase took place January 13th at Keystone State Baseball Academy. Today we continue our analysis of the players in attendance by taking a look at prospects from the Class of 2020..

CLASS OF 2020

Drew BechtoldDrew Bechtold, C, Donegal HS (PA)
5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a heel-raise stride. Displayed a short swing path with a solid feel for the barrel and routinely squared the baseball to all fields. Registered a 76 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.26 60-yard dash. Above average defender showcased pop times of 2.07-2.15 on throws of 69 mph from the crouch. Times will continue to come down with work to shorten throwing motion. Impressed with receiving skills during bullpen phase of the event.

Kai CummingsKai Cummings, OF/RHP, Germantown Freinds School (PA)
6-foot-2, 175-pound two-way prospect ran an event best 6.60 60-yard dash and showcased developing skills at multiple positions with an athletic frame. The right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and initiates his swing with a short leg-hang stride. Starts from a high-hands load and drops the bat head into the hitting zone with a high finish creating consistent back spin. Showcased 83 mph arm strength with average fielding skills defensively. The right-hander sat 78-81 from an over-the-top arm slot with a balanced, repeatable delivery. Curveball displayed 11/5 shape at 61-65 while also commanding a changeup with solid arm speed at 69-71. 

Cannon MayeCannon Maye, LHP/1B, Central York HS (PA)
5-foot-9, 185-pound primary pitcher sat 67-70 from a high 3/4 arm slot with slight arm side run to his fastball. Curveball showed 1/7 rotation at 61-62 with tighter rotation and more depth out of the stretch. Changeup was thrown at near fastball arm speed at 60-61. Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased a line drive approach with solid feel for the barrel and an 83 mph bat exit velocity. Displayed capable actions around the bag at first base with accurate 69 mph arm strength across the diamond. Did not run the 60-yard dash on this date.

Danny McCaffreyDanny McCaffrey, C, Plum HS (PA)
5-foot-8, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts with a square stance and utilizes a knee-to-knee stride. Displayed a line drive approach with some lower half glide while registering a 79 mph bat exit velocity. Ran a 7.55 60-yard dash and showcased pop times of 2.32-2.38 on throws of 66 mph from the crouch. Quiet receiver presents a soft wall when blocking and handled pitchers well during live bullpen sessions.
