VIDEO SCOUT BLOG / EDITION 1

Aidan Clatur 2B / RHP / Warwick Valley, NY / 2021

Athletic 5-foot-10 155 pounds A steady defender with lateral range and can make the play on the move with different arm angles and quick release. Shows some punch to the pull-side with an attack mindset in the box. On the mound; moderate arm swing with a high 3/4 arm slot. Clatur worked 78-79 MPH at past events with feel for his CB. FB in video showed arm side run. Looking forward to seeing the Hudson Valley resident at the 2020 NYS Games.

Jacob LaDuca SS / 2B / Canisius, NY / 2021

Wiry, athletic build at 5-foot-9 155 pounds. Put up a solid grouping of numbers at the WNY Preseason event on February 17th (7.17 60 / 82 INF / 91 Exit Velo). Defensively closes the gap well, hands are out in front with multiple arm angles. Slight incline in his swing path; efforts repeat and stays through the ball to his pull-side. Excited to have the Western NY product with us for the 2020 NYS Games.

Christian Pagano 2B / SS / Depew , NY / 2021

Compact frame in the 5-foot-8 160 pound range. Defensively the hands get out in front and are soft. Controlled approach from both left side positions. Was 80 MPH across the diamond in July of 2019. At the plate; spread stance with a slight take back of the hands. Stays behind the ball well with some lift through the zone. Middle of the field approach for the western NY resident.

William Ruth 2B / SS / Ithaca , NY / 2021

Lean athleticism from Ruth at 5-foot-10 150 pounds who recently improved his 60 from a 7.51 to 7.31. Even setup in the box with a slide of the hands back before leveling out in the zone; two handed extension with a consistent middle of the field effort. Fundamental approach with hands out in front; belt line break of the hands with an over the top release (79 MPH arm at past events). The central NY resident will also be with us at the 2020 NYS Games.

Benjamin Ruth 1B / RHP / Ithaca , NY / 2023

Long, lanky frame for the younger Ruth brother at 6-foot-1 140 pounds with plenty of room for physical gains. Gets into the zone with a purpose with and event setup and a short toe-tap for timing. Line drives with some backspin, the perfect setup for a developing power hitter at the 1B position. Moves well around the bag with glove side turns to 2B. Mechanics are simple with a belt high leg drive and moderate arm circle with a high 3/4 arm slot. Ruth will also join his brother at the 2020 NYS Games and will be a younger player to follow.

Gregory Shaw 3B / RHP / Cornwall , NY / 2022

Large frame at 6-foot-3 189 pounds. Shaw had a recent bump in his measurable stats, improving on his 60, infield arm strength and exit velocity. Shuffles laterally at 3B, glove works well out in front. Spread stance at the plate with some early length that works up through the zone. Additional lower half effort will help clear the way for the hands.Power potential will be there over the long term. Looking forward to having the Hudson Valley resident at the 2020 NYS Games.

Ben Wechsler RHP / 1B / Mamaroneck , NY / 2021

Durable 6-foot-3 205 pound RHP/1B. Spread stance with weight posted over the back leg. Balanced approach with the ball jumping off is bat during his BP round. On the mound; short take back with a standard 3/4 arm slot. Long stride with a firm front side; accelerates out in front. The Westchester county resident is another quality addition to the 2020 NYS Games.

Calvin Dymond 1B / RHP / Kennedy Catholic, NY / 2022

Physical 6-foot-4 210 pound RHH who showed some serious pop at the Preseason-Hudson Valley Event while also working up to 84 MPH on the bump. At the plate; slightly open setup with a knee-to-knee leg kick for timing. Aggressive through the zone with hard, barreled up contact. Moves well off the bag at 1B, clean glove side pivots to 2B. On the mound; simple delivery with a mid chest leg drive, works over the front side with a slight recoil into his finish. Four-seam FB carries through the zone while 2S FB features arm side action; short, early break to his curveball.
