2019 TOURNAMENT 12 PREVIEW: BLACK ROSTER

With Tournament 12 approaching September 17 until the 21st, we take a look at each roster, with players from all across the country with short clips on who they are what they could become this upcoming week.

PBR will be on location for all 5 days, bringing you non-stop coverage of the Tournament along with player updates, statistics, video and more.

This year players are spread out through 6 teams, no longer separated by their territories and no longer will they begin with the 1-1 count. We look forward to seeing the talent all week but for now, get to meet your Black roster representatives for T12.

Tanner Almond OF / 1B / Georgian Bay Community, ON / 2021

Report:  Left on left outfielder out of the Ontario Nationals, this 2021 ran a sub 7.00 sixty at Georgia for the Future Games while there is feel for the barrel and plays a solid outfield at all three positions with jumps and reads. One of the to ranked players in Ontario out of the 21’ class.

Matthew Brown RHP / 1B / Iroquois Ridge, ON / 2021

Report: Stocky right-hander from the Terriers, moves the ball around the zone with three pitches and a fastball that works in the mid 80’s range. Has feel on the mound and can repeat his delivery, room to add strength and can see him making a nice jump both on the mound and in the gym this fall and winter.

Micah Bucknam RHP / 3B / M.E.I, BC / 2021

Report: 2021 out of BC, the Washington commit has a compact, repeatable delivery with a present 3 pitch-mix. Fastball has been up to 90 mph and he’s a strike thrower with stuff that is only going to get sharper and a frame that will only get stronger. Big get for UW out of the west coast of Canada.

Jackson Clemett OF / LHP / Vauxhall Academy of Baseball, AB / 2021

Report: Left-handed hitting outfielder from Alberta, imposing presence at the plate. Have seen him launch balls to his pull side while still being able to show feel for the barrel and use the whole field. Big summer for Clemett, garnering lots of attention as people begin to see the performance and upside that comes with the size and left-handed stick.

Bennett Freiter C / 1B / Foothills Composite, AB / 2021

Report: Catcher out of Manitoba that has a physical frame that should allow and give him opportunity to stick there defensively. Still raw with the bat but shows signs with a simple, quiet approach that there could be some offensive output.

Carson Hindmarsh LHP / OF / NA, SK / 2022

Report: Left-handed arm out of Saskatchewan that impressed at 15u Nationals. Long and lean with repeatable actions, fastball has been up to 84 mph and is one of the younger players in attendance this week. Off-speed shows signs of developing and a very intriguing prospect to be aware of.

Core Jackson SS / N/A, ON / 2021

Report: One of our “picks to click” at T12, very well could be his coming out party on a National stage. We’ve been fans since the start of the season as the LHH shortstop should open eyes on the turf with both his bat to ball skills and his defensive actions on the dirt.

Joshua Jones OF / 3B / Academie Baseball Canada, QC / 2022

Report: Another young player on the squad, Jones has a lot of tools and a strong foundation at the moment, the outfielder currently lacks strength but has taken steps over the last year and the baseball tool aspect is beginning to show. Expect Jones to take another step forward this week in Toronto.

Drew Lawrence OF / RHP / H.B Beal Secondary, ON / 2021

Report: A switch-hitting 2021 grad out of GLC, Lawrence has seen time in numerous positions but the bat and strength are two of the positives he carries around with him. There is bat to ball skills, and although there is rawness to his game, Lawerence is a name you need to know as the 21’ class begins to become a focus for schools.

Brando Leroux SS / 2B / St augustine, ON / 2021

Report: One of our favourites defensively, Leroux can pick it, turn it and go get it with the best of them from the 6-hole. Soft hands, light on his feet, range to both sides, the glove play and footwork seem to come naturally as there is all kinds of confidence. At the plate, Leroux needs strength but the switch-hitter is a guy who can stay at shortstop and see how the bat plays out down the road.

Carson Lumley RHP / SS / Mother Teresa, ON / 2022

Report: RHP with a live arm that gets on hitters with an upbeat, quick tempo delivery while he will flash a sharp, 11/5 breaking ball as a potential put-away pitch. He’s been up to 85 mph with  a wiry and projectable pitchers frame.

Anson McGorman RHP / SS / Ballenas, BC / 2021

Report: Have seen up to 88 mph with a late, biting slider that has chance for big play down the road. It is a loose and whippy arm action from ¾ slot with room to create more rhythm and be even more comfortable on the mound. The actions and stuff play and it is not hard to envision McGorman being a low 90’s guy with a wipeout slider when all is said and done.

Jacob Miller C / 3B / ONeill CVI, ON / 2021

Report: Catcher whose carrying tool is his bat and present strength right now. There is arm strength to work with and moves well around the bases, has to refine some actions behind the plate to stick, could see a move to the outfield as he profiles as a guy who hits with some power, can throw, and runs well enough to for a corner position.

Jack Mount RHP / OF / Vauxhall Academy Of Baseball , AB / 2021

Report: Mount is very interesting as the arm is quick and delivery is compact with a projectable frame that has wide shoulders and will carry more weight and strength. His fastball has been up to 88 with life out the hand and we’ve seen him snap off some tight breaking balls that have flashed promise. Keep a close watch on Mount as he could be someone who takes a big jump this fall.

Nathaniel Ochoa SS / OF / Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School, ON / 2022

Report: Recently named the top 2022 prospect in Ontario, Ochoa is long and lean shortstop with advanced actions for his age currently on the dirt. The bat trails the glove at the moment, but when he adds strength and fine tunes the swing, he’s a player with all kinds of talent and tools to be a top prospect moving forward.

Conor Pote RHP / SS / Okotoks Dawgs Academy, AB / 2022

Report: Right-hander from Alberta with the Okotok Dawgs, Pote has been up to 88 with clean arm in the back and natural run on his heater. Should end up being a sinker slider guy with an athletic frame that has a chance to be a big time arm as he currently is the top 2022 in the country. Big league bloodlines to boost.

Ben Roberts 3B / RHP / Nelson, ON / 2021

Report: Right-handed hitting corner infielder who has shown ability to drive the ball and leave the yard. It’s a lean frame that will add strength as he matures, Roberts big tool is the bat and he’s shown us that all summer.

Loreto Siniscalchi RHP / Langley , BC / 2021

Report: 2021 right-handed arm out of BC, Siniscalchi has shown velocity as its a fastball coming out a high ¾ slot that has been in the mid to upper 80’s while he flashed a downward breaking ball in the low 70’s and near 12/6 shape. The arm plays and room to make minor adjustments to his lower half, Siniscalchi has the frame and body to be a big time arm coming out the West coast of Canada.

Treyson Smith 1B / RHP / Mennonite Educational Institute, BC / 2021

Report:  A big, strong left-handed hitting 1B in the 2021 class, Smith has shown some gap-to-gap power in the bat with some good bat speed.  As Trey continues to develop, look for the power to increase and ability to hit the long ball to all fields.

Jordan Spring RHP / OF / NA, ON / 2021

Report: Spring seems to keep getting stronger as the season moves on and the 2020 London Badger has impressed our staff whenever we’ve laid eyes on him this year. The arm is quick and works well as he’s been 85-86 with an overhand curveball that’s near 12/6 shape and has depth that can bottom out. It’s an athletic frame that moves well on the mound, the strength that awaits and ability to spin make him an interesting 21’ right-hander to watch at Tournament 12.

Mathieu Voros RHP / Academie Baseball Canada, QC / 2021

Report: Lean 6-foot-2 right-hander out of Quebec that is a sinker/slider guy with a loose, ¾ arm with natural run on his fastball in the 82-84 range. Upside is there as he’ll generate swings and misses on both the fastball and slider, and the body is going to fill out down the road which should help him add velocity.

Kaden Gray C / NA, ON / 2021

Report: Right-handed hitting catcher from Ontario and GLC with juice in the bat and arm strength behind the dish. Present strength and room to add more, will be a great look at Gray for the week as he has chance to bloom into one of the best catchers in his class.
